today was a-level results day. a-levels are the most common qualification to get into university. i got mine today. i want to do a degree in computer science.
my first choice was sussex uni and i needed BBB. failing that, my insurance was east anglia which needed BCC.
I got CCC (in psychology, computing and biology). So normally if you're just just one grade off they advise you to phone up the place and check, cause quite often they will still let you in. well, before phoning i went on the ucas website (ucas deal with applications and offers etc.) and i noticed that two days ago my offer to east anglia changed from BCC to unconditional (ie. i could fail every subject and still get in). apprently uni's get our results a few days before we do, so they must have decided they were still going to let me in and made it easier for me by just changing it to unconditional. if only i checked the website 2 days ago, i wouldn't have been shitting myself about my results, cause i would have at least known i was going to a uni whatever happened.
so yeah, i'm pretty happy. i was about 99% sure i wasn't going to get into sussex cause i knew i did shit (in comparison to the required grades). i'm happy with CCC cause it's far better than what i was fearing.
i was looking at the results for my individual modules in each subject. thank god i retook some of the modules because the new ones i did this summer were totally shit. in some of my retakes, i got As (82% in a biology unit, 95% in one psychology unit). the other modules must have brought my grades down. for example, my computing coursework was a U (and worth 30% of final grade) but in the written exams i got A/B and one C.
anyway, i think i might be the only one on these boards who got A level results today, so basically this is a thread all about me.

Well done PixieSteve. Is it UEA you might go to, because Norwich is ace. My year at UEA was one of the best of my life.

Magic. I'm going on a wee trip down memory lane here. It's a while since I was there, but it was great. I met my wife in the Graduates Bar in the Union, and we lived in Norwich for about 6 years.

five boys in my halls all got the same rash from this one girl you think they'd have figured it out after two or three even.

Steve - universities (which I may end up referring to as we, seeing as I work in one) get the results on the Monday before results day, every year we basically have three days to frantically change everyone conditional offer we've made to unconditional. This year they cut it to two days, which was lovely. This means that you're unconditional offer is then in the UCAS system (although not on the website, so don't worry, you didn't miss anything) by the time you get your results on the Thursday. Most unis will have two basic offers (this is probably a trade secret...) - one standard offer (in your case, for example, 300pts, three B's; and one Clearing offer, which is what they'll take you at even if you don't reach those marks.
If you still fancy going to Sussex, call them, they may still take you, you got pretty decent grades. Though honestly, Norwich and Sussex, could you pick anywhere more of a backend of nowehere?

The way this girl put it about I would have imagined they'd have needed three on to even touch the sides to be honest.
Which reminds me, watch out for those student union specials on drinks, it's not always as great a bargain as it seems.

Well sometimes it may be that the course itself and the reputation of the university is more important than the location.
What uni do you work at again?

Meh, it's a good place to work. I'm almost proud of how much we suck, hehe.
To be fair, I hear Bangor take some pretty low grades.
Plus it's in Northern Ireland. Right?

Seeing as you're intent on being mocky it seems to fall to the girl to be the bigger man. So I'll just think mean things at you. And bite my tongue.

Definition: an exclamation of surprise or shock; also written blimy; also called Cor blimey
so "blimey shite" just sounds silly because blimey just doesn't work as an adverb. or whatever. i barely know what a noun is these days.

C'mon, you got into college, or uni, or whatever you people call it over there (uni is seafood here). Surely you know what a noun is.
