Good.
Oh I just remembered that snogging isn't getting drunk but making out, right? I learned that term from Jude Law's nanny.

I have no such plans, sadly, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Righty o and all that.
I should clarify that I don't know Jude Law's nanny but I did read in moment of boredom the tell-all story she sold to the press. Therein I encountered for the first time the verb to snogger or to snog (? however it goes) to describe what they did. Of course, I then had to ask a Brit what that meant.
Like Frank sings, it's educational.

Well done for getting into uni PixieSteve!
The exact same thing happend to me four years ago. I didn't get the grades I was hoping for at college but the Uni changed it to an unconditional place, I was so relieved. I went on to study Computer Science also and graduated three years ago.
Are you taking a Sandwhich Degree? If you have that option I would strongly advise that you go for it, especially if you have little previous working experience. The extra years experience makes a hell of a difference when your looking for that first job.

Homers, dude, Americans use the word "peachy" only to describe peach juice or peaches. Example: "The peach juice tasted peachy." Nobody here describes something as "frickin' peachy."

Omigosh, it's true! Grease is the word!
Your reference for how Americans speak in the 21st Century is a movie about the 50s made in the 70s?
Peachy, indeed!

Well done you! It's such an amazing city to live in, which college?
I've just realised that due to my being preoccupied with advice about rashes and cheap lager (although I was thinking more it's the tequilla you'd be wise to avoid), and having my university insulted I didn't actually congratulate pixiesteve at all, apologies and bloody well done to you too!

Oxford. I've heard of that place. I hear the basketball team stinks.
These admissions are for Fall of 2005? They don't give you much time to prepare. In the US acceptance letters I think are around February.

It ties in with the exams here - the equivalent of a High School Diploma is A-levels taken age 18. Final exams are taken in June, results come through August, university term starts end of September.
Congratulations though Toeknee, thats really good news.

Why not have the exams earlier so that people know where they're going more than 1 month beforehand? We typically know for about 6 months where we're heading off to college. Of course, we generally have to move farther, so maybe it's a bigger deal in the US. |
