I know it's a cliche, but isn't it confusing being bisexual? It's such a relief to tune out one gender. How do you deal with two?

I'm attracted to a person not a gender. Sometimes it's sexual sometimes it isn't.
The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it. |

sorry to turn this thread into bisexual q&a, but dave, do you see yourself settling down with a man or a woman in the future? or do you see yourself not settling down? or do you have no clue?

Thanks for your interesting posts, Marsist and Surfer.
Sometimes I feel like a freak -- nearly all my friends have had some kind of attraction or experience with their own gender whereas I am clueless to that possibility.

oh, i don't think i would ever have ANY experience with a man. i'm not attracted at all, but i can say that guy a is attractive or whatever. and if i wanted to, i have a surprisingly high number of good gay friends, i'm sure they could set me up with someone. but that doesn't appeal to me at all.
however, 90% of women i know admit to wanting to experiment with a woman.

I have to say that I am with you on that one Kathryn. Being with the same gender is just not anything I have been curious about or put any thought into. Not to mention I am absolutely more satisified with my husband and my sexual relationship than I ever thought imagineable. Perhaps I am just old fashioned in many ways, but I just can't think of having sex with anybody else....same gender or otherwise. |

dave, do you plan on letting your friends in on it, or no? it took one of my best friends YEARS to come out to me, but it was because his boyfriend (who i am also friends with) was so uncomfortable with it. he was ready from a young age, but his boyfriend's family is insanely conservative and old fasioned, and his grandmother, in front of them (but clearly not knowing whats going on) has said "i hate faggots"

It's not that I am not admitting anything. It's that a big part of my identity is how I feel when I am with a guy, and I don't mean how I feel sexually. I know it sounds neanderthalish and unenlightened, I know we are people first, I know it's about the person, not the gender ... but I can't imagine how I'd relate to a woman. I am sure I could figure out the sex part, but not the relating part. If that makes sense.

I trust that you will increasingly feel open with this part of yourself. Perhaps it will come with age, as sexual honesty tends to. Best of luck.

as he gets older i'm sure he'll get more comfortable talking about it. that is one reason why i was glad i was older when i found out my friend was gay, b/c we're at the point in our lives where really nothing is taboo to talk about, and we can be honest and discuss it and its not awkward. even though i'd have been fine with it at 15, i can tell we wouldn't really joke about it or discuss it in a non-awkward way.

Ok I wouldn't have oral sex or touching below the waist.... but I would kiss....
Jennifer Aniston for my husband's viewing pleasure.
Or if I could go back in time Anais Yin because she seemed so feminine and in touch with her sexuality

You could argue that bisexuality is a purer attraction, in that it's more about the person/personality than about whether the person has a great ass.

Strictly, being bisexual is not wanting to know what you prefer. For some it's like "Yeah! I am an esthete, I can do it with anyone, it's glamourous and rock'n roll to be bi" Those who laud that I believe are homosexual but want to think there is ill a case of normality for them. They fool themselves. Bisexual people are often narcissistic. they do it with the others just for the pleasure of imagining themselves in situation they make up. They want to remain the main character. They are in the mere actor's craft. So much that they can be sexually active with anyone (anything?). They actually don't have real sex in term of spiritual exchange and end-up blasé or au contraire totally fucked up. I personnaly am narcissistic, what I described is what I am. I am aware of that and just try not to hurt too much people with this feeling. It's hard, for I do not consider people I have relations with as actual people anymore. Once I fuck with them, they become "people I fucked, people I saw myself having fucked". And I lose interest quickly for it is only me that matters and for some reasons I despise people that surrendered to me... too easily. love that matters these days are impossible loves. Loves that would be fatal and radical, Loves that would generate death. This is the only trigger for inspiration. A love that would and should never happen. I am suffering though it is quite a thrill to experience this very very human feeling.

I guess you could argue then that an even purer attraction would be for a bisexual who is into beastiality.

i love you, monkey.
everyone says they're bi now. biggest trend in decades.
edit: i'd probably sleep with winona ryder. she has a pretty impressive sexual resume, i'd use it as an opportunity to pretend i'm having sex with johnny depp or jack white or beck.

to say that being bi is the biggest trend in decades is complete and utter bollocks it took me quite some time to come to terms with my sexuality and to say that im only bi cause its trendy is one of the biggest insults i can think of. at first i was ashamed to admit that i was bi sexual and that was a rough few months of hating myself and being completly miserable but now that i can accept it i think i am a better person for it.so abyone who thinks that my sexual preferance is only to be "trendy" can fuck off.and here i thought thta this was a good place to talk to open minded people.

i don't think anyone here was accusing you of being trendy. i hope that we did not offend. i think a lot of times on these types of places its hard to distinguish humor from seriousness. i hope no one was trying to offend you.

I am sure Dayanara distinguishes between drunk girls in bars blithely making out for the guys' benefit and just for kicks (which does seem a recent trend) versus true bisexuals struggling with identity and self-acceptance.

Good, I know what you mean... But try not to be too much bitter. Those who do not understand cannot be blamed. To understand all that is to having lived that, and it is not something easy to deal with. Some never come back. If you have a brother you wish he will be straigh and normal and hope he'll never go through the same troubles as yours. I'm glad for ignorants though, yes, they can hurt sometimes...

Whats to understand? It's black and white, don't color it. Some people like the opposite sex in bed. Some people like the same sex in bed. Some people like both in bed. Some don't like the bed period. And after all this is said and done, we still ALL fall asleep.

oh good god. clearly i should have put a little disclaimer before my post. i'm sure not everyone who defineslves as bi is doing it to be cool, ok? let's all just settle down. i didn't say everyone is bi, but that they're calling themselves that. among certain crowds it is very trendy to claim it when it couldn't be farther from the truth, like it or not.
everywhere i go there are girls, teens to thirties usually, climbing all over other women for male attention. when i was in college i couldn't escape it. they don't do it because they're sexually attracted to the other woman, they do it because they think it's cute and it gets the guys all riled up. see daisy's reference of "jennifer aniston for my husband's viewing pleasure." it's gotten to the point where men come to expect this behavior and it grates on my last nerve.
