I hate to say it, (ha! ha!) but I really don't like Santa Fe. I get a very weird and depressed feeling when I'm there. I feel like I'm walking around a movie set. It just seems like it's a bunch of really wealthy people exploiting the American Indians. I know it's really beautiful. But for real beauty I prefer Taos. And for reality, or a good representation of what the people of the state are really like, I prefer Albuquerque. I just never understand why people love Santa Fe.

I hate Albuquerque. Seriously, maybe I don't know the place well, but all I see there is strip malls. Albuquerque's god's joke, to me - he juxtaposed one of the prettiest spots with one of the ugliest.
But you enjoy yourself, Callahan.

You're right. It's visually ugly. It certainly is made up of mainly strip malls. But, I feel like it's more real that Santa Fe. I know I'm in the minority about this. I don't mean to turn anybody against the place. I just don't understand why the phonyness of it seems to escape most people. Maybe I'm just too grumbley.

i went to Taos on this recent trip. this friend of ours was insisting that Taos was so much better than Santa Fe. that Santa Fe is all yuppied out and that Taos is more bohemian or whatever. which i didn't really find to be the case. Taos was cool, but it was basically just a smaller version of Santa Fe. there's no doubt that Santa Fe is a money town and tourism is a huge part of it, but i still love the town. i love that part of New Mexico period. as many have said, it's just different somehow. the air is different. the sun is different. plants are different. something about that place just makes me happy |

Parts of Albuquerque are pretty nice. I've never been to Santa Fe, though. Maybe I will at some point, but I'm not as enamored with the Southwest as a lot of my fellow forumites and family members seem to be.
Getting back to the topic at hand, I hate: My ear problems Lack of money Not being able to find a well-paying job The whole application process for jobs (particularly interviews) Things not going according to plan

I think Kathyrn's hatred of freaking out goes along with her fear of hippies.

In soap operas, when the camera stays on a character's expression (usually of worry, smugness or soon-to-be-thwarted happiness) for a few moments at the end of a scene. |

Why are you watching soap operas in the first place?

Especially during a hug or embracement. That's the soap opera cliche! |
