Ever have a moment that just makes you shake your head at your own stupidity and be thankful nobody actually saw it?

Well, I'm writing notes for a project I'm working on, and I remember putting down the pen to pick up my iPod and go back to the beginning of the album (this Run Chico Run album keeps getting better each time through). Then I go to resume writing notes, and I thought the pen must've slipped under all the papers I've got sitting on my desk. I hunt through them. "What the hell?" I exclaim perhaps a little loud. I check again. I go over the rest of the desk... nothing. Look on shelves, even though I now I wasn't near them. Nothing. Probably 5 minutes. It can't have gone far, I didn't stand up. Finally I get up to go talk with a coworker about something that popped into my mind when I first put the pen down, and as I'm walking, I feel the pen shift from its perch behind my ear.

D'oh!

I used to forget I was wearing glasses sometimes. I search around the house and after a few minutes I'd suddenly realise...they're on my face. :)

Yesterday I got home with who I live with and I got my keys out to open the door. I was distracted by something in the road, perhaps a car, and then I couldn't find my keys. I checked my pocket, the floor, the door, even accused my friend of having them, but to me they had disappeared from the face of the earth. My friend then divulged their location; my hand.

Very true story, unfortunately. It's funny how things like that can happen. I just couldn't feel them in my hand. I was carrying three or four things, so I suppose my mind was just on autopilot ("don't release grip" mode).

Heh, yeah, that's even funnier than my story. :) It is weird that someone can just completely lose any recollection of where things were even when they are on a person.

Speedy M once gave a guy we went to school with a lift somewhere and he had to sit in the back because another friend was already with him. They both got out and started walking, assuming he would get out too, and looked back to see him panicked like a dog or something trapped in the back of the car and trying to find his way out. He was looking for seat levers and hitting windows and everything. Mike then verrrry slowly walked back towards the car, kind of gave him a confused look, and gently lifted the door handle.

I guess he thought it was a 2 door or something...

Shortly after giving up marijuana as a way of life, I stepped into the shower with my socks on. I was compelled to do a load of laundry immediatly after the shower, to keep my wife (then girlfriend) from finding wet socks in the clothes hamper.
