try online ones when your normal one is not picking something up or not deleting something

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

both are trusted anti-virus

Oh let it linger

Cheers PixieSteve I'll run these this weekend to see if I can pick up anything else.

Llama, I have been through my computer and deleted most of the files that we listed by Norton as risky. However I have 1 left which is an ASM.exe and seems to de protected. I guess there is info on the net that will tell me how to get rid of it??

I think I might have made a cock up though yesterday... when I got back from the bar it seemed like a good idea to tackle the problem of these files. However I think I might have deleted an incorrect file as today my Norton email scan option has an error. I was reading the help on Norton and it said that the email scanner protects email programs that use SMTP and POP from getting viruses. I use Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail... these don't make use of SMTP or POP do they? I am pretty sure I have read somewhere that Hotmail and Yahoo scan incoming emails for viruses.

Right I'm off to work... last day before my buddies and I head up to the Great Wall for a night of campfire drunkeness!

This is a high class bureau de change, not some Punch & Judy show on the seafront at Margate!

I use eTrust. My computer came with Norton, but I didn't bother renewing my subscription after the free trial ended, not just because of the price, but also because I didn't like it. It was kind of annoying, and tended to slow down the computer when it was running.

I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied.
