I second Carolynanna's "Woot" and heartily declare that I have been proclaiming this for the better part of the night in various speakeasys and taverns. It has indeed been a great series to watch and Game 7 is gonna' be a wiiiiiiiiiild one. Go Oilers!!!

Well, congrats Carolina, on winning the Stanley Cup. I blame Edmonton and each and every resident therein. Especially those whose names bear a resemblance to Carolina. :)

You weren't proclaiming it the other day. :P
I am so stoked for tonight's game, cripes I want them to win. Our whole city is just vibrating. They played incredibly on saturday (and Carolina played incredibly crappy). I hope they keep it up and just shoot the puck for chrissakes like they did on sat.

Yeah, I had completely lost hope the way they were playing games 2,3, and 4. Losing at home was the last straw, I thought, they were done in. I've been wrong before, but never quite so happy about it. They've really turned around their game, they are, thank goodness, shooting the bloody puck most of the time (I see a few players still reluctant even with a clear lane), and putting their back into it. We couldn't ask for a better way to resume hockey than to have an old favourite like Edmonton get this far and make the series this exciting.
Oh, and Jussi is amazing, though that one save that Cam Ward made the other night, stretching across the entire net to snag a bullet from the air, it was like watching the Matrix when they slowed the replay.

I think they should've made Jussi a star of the game. It WAS a shutout for crying out loud.
They changed the words slightly to Fernando by Abba and now play it all the time on the radio for Pisani, the only Edmonton born Oiler...

Sorry, was in the emergency room getting my heart brought back to life. Sad but what can you do. If only Fernando had come through one last time. You know, and they hadn't kept passing it back to NOBODY! Where was the bloody support.
Oh well, what can you do? We'll have to wait for Saskatoon to get a team...

Did you manage to get out to a pub last night, K?
I went to our pub at five and had to really work/organize tables just to get my friends a spot. While we did lose, there's something great about being in that atmosphere.

I'm just so very disappointed. :( Man I miss the 80s.
And Dean I agree, I think I've seen the Oil score more shorthanded than on the powerplay. Pisani was almost the hero there, the announcer said Wow how did Ward get that one. For the record, Ward is from Fort Saskatchewan which might as well be Edmonton.

I did. I also managed to get Carolyn on the telephone and gab, like girls do. We had us a nice ole chat. And then the Oilers lost to a Tobacco Road franchise.

I know Carolyn...but life moves on...there's always a next year.
To that end, I would like to invite any FB.netters who have fantasies, er, in hockey to join my league. For some reason my team numbers have gone down (a lack of hockey interest (gasp?) or...I suppose they just don't like me), so I am afraid I might'nt have enough teams to field in time for our draft next week, Thursday September 28.
Anywho, I know there are plenty of hockey loving folks hanging around these parts, so if you have any interest, drop me an email and I will send along pertinent information for joining. I'm closing the leauge Wednesday the 27th, so get on the stick!

But hickster you're not from Edmonton, you don't understand!!! We had the dreamteam, I remember it well. Then we had the farmteam, for oh so many years. It would've been so sweet.
Actually I'm stoked for this year. We are kicking ass pre-season.
It was also cool that the first game against Phoenix was is Winnipeg...GO JETS GO!

I can't believe they fined Craig MacTavish $10,000. I told you we should get a trophy for the team most fucked over by refs and officials.

I like how I'm the only one who posts here...
Anyway, yesterday I was TWO numbers off from winning the 50/50 at the game! TWO NUMBERS! That's the closest I've ever been. That means the guy buying the tickets right before me won. $23,000 would've come in handy.
And I still think that someone should look into the obvious bias that the refs have against the Oil.

I'm watching. I can't look away even though the NHL disgusts me these days. They must deal with the head shots. Now that I have a kid, I just can't believe some of the stuff they let go. I love the fighting (that is two guys agreeing to go - not trying to injure a defenseless player) and big hits, don't get me wrong, but the cheap play is getting worse and worse.
I'm rooting Ottawa big time, but unfortunately I think the Ducks are a great team, even though they are the dirtiest in the league. If you have Pronger and Neidermeyer on the blueline, you can cheap shot all day long, unfortunately.
No way Ducks score that third goal if Redden wasn't massively interfered with in front of the net BTW. But then no way the Sens score that goal if someone wasn't flipping Giguere's goalie stick into his face either :)

Tis. Tough here in Edmonton because either Pronger or Comrie is going to win a cup. Even still I have to root for the Canadian franchise.

Of course I'm watching.
I am sort of rooting for Anaheim, but I think Ottawa will win.
Nice fence that, eh?
Tonight I plan to experience my first Stanley Cup game in High Definition...likely to add to the "upgrades" in the home theatre in the near future. I'd go if I could, but hockey is three hours' drive from me, and that's the Ovechkins, er, Caps.
