are there enough Frank Black lovers who will come back here and want to discuss the Yellow album (and TOTY) to make this forum worthwhile, or is everyone going to pussy out?
i'm only asking because.. well, seems like a lot of people are pussying out. not going to name names.

While I'm not a fan of your scatological chronicles, I appreciate your efforts to revitalize this place. I like this board, I enjoy reading comments on the music, as well as the off topic ramblings. I've gotten good book recommendations from here, as well as learning of new music.
I hope this board continues. C'est tout for now... |

This forum is actually quite alive compared to other forums I used to post in. Facebook and other social networking sites have made the forum a dead medium. My girlfriend who is quite a bit younger than me says my age shows when she sees me on forums.
My life is dirt but you seem to make it cleaner... reduce my felony to a misdemeanor |

Interesting. I like forums, the few I check out seem pretty lively.
The design of this place is really pleasing to the eye and I also like how you don't have to register to read the messages, I dislike when forums do that. Maybe fi there's more doings in the FB and/or Pixies realms, this place will be more active. |

i'm a member of sone other discussion forums that are very active actually. i don't know if its accurate to say that Facebook has replaced them. a beer discussion forum I'm on has like 45,000 users and zillions of topics every day. i guess the main difference is people there aren't pussying out like people here
i get that he hasn't been recording lately, and people like Fissile tend to bring people down, but it's odd to me that a "show me your pixies collectibles" thread would yield zero posts. odd, and sad. and pussyish
i bet that wouldn't happen on the Motörhead discussion forum

i find it nice that i can miss 3 weeks and still catch up re;lativily quickly. i frequent audiokarma, having recently begun revitalizing my vinyl collection and setting myself up with a decent stereo system, and there are a thousand new threads every day and i can never find what i need so its easier to just start a new thread, get answer, and move on. FB.net has always been that way, even in busy times 3 or 4 pages of new topics makes for a few hours reading at most....and when its slow its fun to revive old topics.

I often forget Charles' full real name.
I don't know where he lives, not even if it's in the US.
I don't know where he was born, or how old he is exactly.
I don't know how many times he's been married.
I just know Violet's name because she has a musical project and she sang in Bluefinger.
I don't know the names of any of his kids or dogs.
I never know where in the world he is at any given time.
I ignore 19 out of every 20 interviews with any member of the Pixies.
I think I have read just two interviews with Frank and another two with the Breeders in my whole life.
I don't know if Kim is christened just "Kim" or "Kimberly."
I know Kelley exists because she is also a musician. Oh, she likes knitting. I know that.
It took me four years after release to watch Loud Quiet Loud.
I have a documentary/interview with the Breeders I downloaded years ago and still haven't seen.
Maybe I'm not such a good fan?
But wait.
I have all of their albums and EPs.
I know the lyrics to most of their songs.
Frank Black is at the top of my list of favorite artists on Last.fm, with more than twice as many scrobbles as the second place (The Breeders). The Pixies is fourth, "Frank Black and the Catholics" is fifth.
But no memorabilia. Nope.
