I found mine recently. It was like discovering a forgotten childhood toy. (I waited a month till I posted next, to wish Scott Boutier a happy father's day.)

I went back in the threads to right when I decided to stop lurking. Oooh, that's what I forgot to ask. How long did people lurk before they registered and posted? I lurked for a month, took a month off, then lurked for six months (!) before posting. I am nothing if not patient.

I think I posted pretty much straight away. Took me a while to discover General Chat though.

But once you did, it was all to the detriment of general chat.
Kidding, kidding.
Here's my first post.
05/28/2004 : 11:35:56 One of my students asked to be excused from class for a week so he could follow String Cheese Incident. I flat out said no. Later in the semester, I cancelled class for a week "due to illness" so I could see a bunch of BF+theCs shows. My dirty, hypocritical secret.

No, I don't remember my first post.
I lurked the Pixies section (before reunion) for about three months, then I registered another username, probably you don't remember it, and then started the whoreatthedoor era. Months ago, along with the portuguese lady, I went into the general chat, and I lost myself in it.

In my first two posts, I was asking about the "college demos" and ssmvgd.
And it took me a couple of month before registering. |

I lurked on and off for ages - found this wonderous place first time I saw FB & the Catholics and then came back when the reunion was announced - lurked for a bit - saw them and then could no longer hold back. |

i probably lurked for close to a year before even registering, finally gave in and signed up because i had a ticket question. took me another 6 months to make my way into general chat. i always wonder about people who dive in here before getting their feet wet in the fb-related subforums.
i am sitting here observing my emotional discomfort. |

As far as I remember, my first post was like 'Hello everybody, I'm a newbie and I'm pleased to meet you'. I got no reply and I thought that was because of my shitty English.

I don't remember my first post. The oldest post I can find was my very lame and ignored Craig Wedren EP thread.

I joined just after the site was launched.
Saw Dave Noisy asking questions on the AbstractPlain mailing list.
It was sad to see the AP kinda shrivel up. Met some very cool and very generous folks there.

I think my first post was in a concert review just after I saw the Catholics at the Black Cat in DC a few years back.

my first post was in the "worst Pixies song ever". I said I couldn't believe anyone said "All Over The World". I think I didn't lurk at all.
Actually, on 2nd thought, I remember seeing one thread in February of 2003 before I started posting (in May of 2003). |

I remember mine very well. I was sitting here watching game 5 or 6 of the playoffs, thinking to myself 'I wish I could find a cool message board that has a little older crowd and is a little more quickly paced than the one I usually go to.' I goggled 'frank black forum' and here I am. I wanted to get a feel fr the tone of the forums and came to the general chat to check it out and found a thread about the playoffs, or NBA, right away. And so I posted right away, no lurking. |

Cue Sir Rockabye on a cocaine-fuelled rampage along the East Coast.
I think my first post was asking how to get in touch with Frank Black, I wanted to send him a copy of my undergrad dissertation. I got pointed to Cooking Vinyl, and eventually did get one to him. Happy ending!

Definitely Sir Rock, he's quite the little crackhead.
And yeah, I got it to FB. No feedback though!

The earliest one I can find was this:
quote: It's a hard one, but Superabound always does it for me. Wasn't too keen on it at first but it just gives me goosebumps every time now.
in response to a favourite Frank Black song thread. Earth shattering, huh? I lurked for about a year before I even posted that.
