Anyone read this? It's a very long, and very wordy, article about the song Rock Music. To be honest, I haven't the patience to read the whole thing, but from what I did read of it, seems like someone's got way too much time on their hands! Interesting read though... |

why do people bother with anoyingly long, complicated words? :S it just spoils the article because the only people who pretend to understand it are stuck up snobbish people who just sit and go "hhmm...yes..yes..i agree" ...you could probably replace most of the words with "small" "good" "interesting"..etc.. then i could actually understand it.. |

UGHHHGHH How tedious.
here is my CONCLUSION: A short, vital burst of greatness like Rock Music should never, EVER, under any circumstances by analyzed in a scholastic essay -- especially by overly wordy and self-indulgent writers. |

what a shite.
and wrong too.
"In addition, lyrics are provided in the cd's packaging for all the other songs on the album but not for "Rock Music."
there are also no lyrics for "havalina".
so, he should kindly return his Ph.D. and start again.

That's an embarrassment to academia. Still it's good to see anything that cites Frank

I browsed it and it looks poorly done. Maybe a problem that he's obviously a big pixies fan. I would like to see more academic approaches to the pixies though, and i guess more articles will appear. However, as uberfans, it might be wise to remember that these articles are written within a specific academic context for a specific audience - not members of fbnet. I read a "cool" article about the schizoid aspects of a Talking Heads album, which i am sure a lot of fans would have hated if they've read it, but i enjoyed it a lot. |
