I was very disappointed by Land of the Dead. I couldn't get into any of the characters and didn't really like the situation they were in. I prefer people having to fortify themselves and interact with each other, often in a not-so-friendly manner, while fighting off zombies at the same time.
One thing about Land of the Dead that I thought was cool was that they had a main zombie that we ended up siding with and symphatizing with. That was about it, though. I thought that 28 Days Later (I know they aren't zombies but close enough) and the remake of Dawn of the Dead were far batter than Land. I need to see Shaun of the Dead

Seriously. What's with all the bashing? I thought LOTD was excellent. Full of great ideas, great performances by Hopper and Leguizamo... Maybe people were disappointed because they expected a scarier movie? It wasn't scary but that wasn't the point IMO.

| Yeah....ive decidedi no longer care what the reviews say....basically im entirely swayed by them handing out glow in the dark Makezombieshistory.com wristbands at reading that links to the official film website....i still havent seen any sign of it coming out in odeon cinemas though |

Cool. I was wondering why we hadn't talked more about the movie. It got universal acclaim from the critics in France (there's a daily newspaper - Liberation - which put it on the full front page on release day) and I think it did well. I had to see it alone cause my wife hates zombie movies. Now maybe I'm not the greatest expert (I still haven't seen Dawn and Day) but I was impressed. "Zombies, man. They creep me out!"

| I love Zombie movies. NOTLD and Dawn of the Dead being favorites. I also really enjoyed Return of the Living Dead (funny "punk" zombie flick from the eighties) and I loved Shaun of The Dead (when they started hucking carefully selected old LPs at the shambling horrors I was in tears). Haven't seen the new one yet though. I really find Vampire movies monumentally boring... |

Ah Denis, I understand. I'll be going to see it solo because I'm surrounded by heathens, and those who would come to see it with me are the sort who would try to talk in the middle of the film, you know the types...

shut up and watch the fucking film people!
But I still have hopes for this film. I've purposely tried to keep away from the hype and the reviews because I want to appreciate it for what it is. Zombie films may not be everyones cup of tea but lets be honest, those people are fools. |
