So it's that time of year again, when the British media goes into overdrive and Tim Henman feels the weight of the universe on his shoulders, thus blowing his big chance for a major tennis tournament.
Will there be joy on Henman Hill, tears on Rusedski Ridge and even hope on Murray Field (see what they did there;)?
Non-Brits, can you stand the rampant jingoism associated with this (Brits too, I guess). Is it just as bad in the other majors?
So who are the contenders? Federer looks like a shoe-in for the mens, with only Roddick or some unknown 7 ft Balkan having a chance, but what about the women's title?
Where are the Williams sisters? Can Sharapova defend her title, or will Clijsters, Henin-Hardenne or Davenport come up with the goods?
Predictions welcome, and a gold star for the winners:)

I truly like Henman, he is nreally one of my favorite tennis players, but I am sure he will lose again.

I predict most Americans will continue to mispronounce the word "Wimbledon."
I predict some forum guys will post pix of half-naked tennis-player hotties in this thread.

That's a fantastic idea kathryn, and something which can only enhance the thread.
Which brings to mind the issue of prize money at Wimbledon. I think women are still given less than men. Is this fair?

Well, if anyone cares, Tim Henman has just lost the first set, but the next big thing - Andrew Murray - won comfortably \o/
Maybe rain and Cliff Richard giving an impromptu concert would liven things up a bit;)

Henman will not hold the trophey, big suprise. The only people with a chance are Federer, Roddick, Hewitt, and Safin.
Would like to see Davenport take the title home, but it will probally be Henin-Harden.

Marcelo Rios was #1 ATP tennis player in 1998 but no grand slams
Nicolas Massu won 2 golden medals but no grand slams and #9 ATP
Fernando Gonzalez ?? who knows, perhaps one or two grand slams :) |
