PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - I've been dabbling in the hardcore lately. You're getting a couple of extra overdue bits thrown into your package. |

As usual I've listened to my first draft and criticqued it to death and now I want to start all fresh again. Am I the only one who torments themselves over these things this much (with some masochistic pleasure thrown in for fun)? |

The only trouble I have is whittling my list down. And deciding which song by which artist. I try not to have more than one song from each artist on each CD.

It's the editing that is difficult as hell - I've got more than one track by some artists, but that is because they are either very short or simply because I can't decide which one. The bit I obsess over the most is the flow - couldn't give a damn if none of you notice it, it's more for my own selfish pleasure. |

Ah come on man, you're killing me. I'd have liked the hardcore, although I haven't listened in a while. Are we talking Fat Wreck style (SOIA, Good Riddance), or harder still (Minor Threat maybe? Stuff like Earth Crisis?). Did you ever listen to the metalcore that was around a year or two ago? I'm out of touch with my metal these days, but there was a time when Raging Speedhorn, Medulla Nocte, that sort of thing were big. Scared the pants off me.

Hey, I'm still in provided the ftp idea gets nixed. It won't work for me, as the only computer I've got is a work laptop and there's not a chance I could do it with that. Incidentally, that computer got run over the other day and I don't know when I'll get a new one, so if anything gets settled in this regard could someone kindly e-mail me? It's in my profile.

I think the ftp was just an idea...only a few folks said they would do it that way.
sounds to this forum member that it's all padded envelopes and the post. |

I think I've finished my mix. I'll look it over again before actually burning the CDs, though.

I'm with Xavi, no cd from me if you are only FTP.
And Simone, some Hardcore will be at the end of my mix, along with other stuff that only select people will like. The begining if my mis is for everyone, then for ladies, then for harder music and edgy shit, that of course I like.

LBF, what do you mean that part of your CD will be "for ladies'? What makes some music music "for ladies"?

One of the bands I'm putting on my mix has a song called "This One's For The Ladies," but I'm not including that song on the mix.

Seeing Raging Speedhorn in 2 weeks - I don't understand how you can like the hardcore but be scared of Isis and Raging Speedhorn? You confuse me very much.
And LBF - VERY intrigued as to what your mix will have on it. |

Well I'm not really into it anymore Nic, but I have a passing appreciation. In punk terms, I prefer it a little less aggressive, but I have bought at least one hardcore album in my time. In fact, one of my all time favourite songs is 'Stand' by Good Riddance.
Raging Speedhorn though, they're just scary - they're from Corby for crying out loud! Thats East Midlands!

I met them at the Motley Crue aftershow, didn't realise it was them at the time (ooh get me with my name dropping) - I thought they were just fun regular guys. |

I have read a few interviews with them and they seem like absolute assholes. They seem to find violence funny.

Violence is funny, taken on a Laurel & Hardy basis. And looking at them, they're funny too.

All I have to go on is my experience and they were nice enough then. (Though I'm perfectly aware of their reputations.) |

Yeah I don't think they were taking it on a Laural & Hardy level. If they did I would have the utmost respect for them.

As I said, mine's done. Is it too early to mail it to people or do I have to wait until the deadline?
I want to mail mine soon because I fear I will give in to my compulsion to make every song a Bob Mould song.

You can post if you want...
the way Homers did it (and is brilliant, btw)--everyone email me their mailing addresses and I'll compile and email those out to everyone. be sure to include FULL mail addresses (country, etc...)
on a side note, my list is being broken into two again, i think unless i change my mind again. they're both kinda depressing so i think i'm starting over. |

i think i just heard them...but i'm NOT paranoid. |
