Well, it might be possible that I got it and then misplaced it. This place is a mess. I don't think that's the case, though.

I got Tre's mix in the mail yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

Denis' mix:
At last Guitar Wolf, not to mention Daniel Johnston, two artists you'd made me curious about, Denis. Love the Cesaria Evora tune, I didn't know that one. Some oldies but goodies (Attack of the Giant Ants, Gut Feeling/Slap your Mammy) and lots of new artists. Best cover art of the whole bunch.

For all the lurkers, my 'liner notes'
Beat Happening – “Grave Digger Blues” – Quasi-a cappella death song. How else do you start a mix? From the album Black Candy
Black On White Affair – “Bold Soul Sister, Bold Soul Brother” – Funk from the Pacific Northwest. From the amazing compilation Wheedle’s Groove: Seattle’s Finest in Soul & Funk 1965-75
Ted Leo/Pharmacists – “Tell Belgeary, Balgury is Dead” – The first New Jersey artist to appear on the disc. His mom works with my girlfriend’s father. He makes me believe in old fashioned rock and roll again. From the album Hearts of Oak
Danielson Famile – “Good News For The Puss Pickers” – A nod to the ‘Personal Evolution’ thread – a Christian band! Albeit a Christian band produced by Steve Albini and whose songs are more nonsensical than most and whose singer has an impossibly high voice. This is the song most people are liable to hate on the comp. Also a Jersey band. From the album Fetch The Compass Kids
Aphex Twin – “Flim” – This song has not been out of my head for a good 4 months. So I had to pass it along to you guys. From the Come to Daddy EP.
Mike Watt – “Pedro Bound!” – The amazing Watt talking ‘bout his hometown. From his first (of two so far) ‘punk-rock opera,’ Contemplating The Engine Room
The Wrens – “Faster Gun” – The final NJ installment on the disc, the Wrens are fantastic. You need to get your hands on this record. It’s called The Meadowlands
Guided By Voices – “Game of Pricks” – R.I.P. GBV. One of their most ‘famous’ songs, but still not known by nearly enough people. Bob Pollard gives me hope that I too may be rocking in my middle age. From the album Alien Lanes
Foo Fighters – “Floaty (BBC Session)” – A rarely performed treat from their eponymous debut, slowed down and with some fantastic falsetto vocals. God bless the BBC and their sessions – where else would we get this stuff?
The Special Goodness – “You Know I’d Like…” – Side project of Weezer’s Pat Wilson, TSG is good power-pop played on a Sea Foam Green Stratocaster. Is there a more perfect instrument? From the album Land Sea Air
Violent Femmes – “Old Mother Reagan” – Could clearly be released today with a different Republican family in the lyrics. From the album Blind Leading The Naked
Yonder Mountain String Band – “Idaho” – A band I found by accident (I was trying to find Old Crow Medicine Show) but am dam glad I did. I like bluegrass. You may not. Another one bound to split people. From the album Town to Town
A.C. Newman – “Secretarial” – New Pornographers leader and good Canadian citizen Newman recorded the whole album with a grant given from the gov’t. Damn Canada and their support of local artists. From The Slow Wonder
Stevie Wonder – “We Can Work It Out” – Wonder does Beatles. Brian does dance. From Signed, Sealed, Delivered
The Bad Plus – “And Now We Test Our Powers Of Observation” – The best live act of 2005 (so far) and the best active jazz (if you can call them that) band alive. From Give
Dan Bryk – “Bbw” – Another random find who was described to me as Randy Newman meets Ben Folds. That comes pretty close. At first this song might seem like he’s making fun of girls with some extra weight, but when you realize that he is a hefty guy himself, you see the song for what it is: a cry for an accepting partner who won’t judge him physically. What we all want/need. From Lover’s Leap
Capsize 7 – “Malt Lemur” – A great title for a great song from this defunct North Carolina band. Bought the same day I bought Dan Bryk’s album. From Mephisto
Sufjan Stevens – “They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhh!” – Ridiculously titled. Ridiculously good. Another Christian artist. From his fucking unbelievable Illinois
Destroyer – “Holly Going Lightly” – No, it’s not Bowie – I know Dan Bejar sounds a lot like the Great White Duke. His voice also may be familiar if you like the New Pornographers – he writes/sings a few songs per album. From This Night
Pavement – “Carrot Rope” – By far the most well known track amongst the indie crowd to be put on this CD, but it is one of my Top 10 favorite songs ever. And I think it’s about a penis. But I could be wrong. If this didn’t fade out, it might be perfect. From their swan-song, Terror Twilight

I love the Wrens, and finally get to see them live this Saturday! They are pretty good guys from what I've heard and experienced (they sent me a free copy of Secaucus).

Glad to hear it arrived.
I'm back from my weekend reprieve and have brought along all the remaining discs which were at my home. I'll start listening tonight and have reviews up as they come to me.
Denis, in an unfortunate stroke of luck, my lady managed to misplace one of your discs before I had a chance to hear it. It's there somewhere, she just can't remember where she put it. I'll find it when I go home again and give it a go, but for the time being I'll only be able to post a review of the one I have.

My CD didn't have a kiss in it! I got ripped off.
But one CD did include the key to the sender's heart, which still makes me smile. And blush.

Oh kitty, you know there are lyrics in your mix that both make me cry and give me strength.

I took notes as to my favorite tracks on various mixes, and I'm listening to those tracks again now. So far, I can say my favorite tracks on Kathryn's mix are probably "Sandpaper Blues," "Under The Milky Way," and "Substitute."

Have we all been neglecting this as much as I have? Sorry again, but I've been in small prairie towns, no CD player except in the car, and so it's been anything but easy to get write-ups going for all of you. Don't fret, though - they're on the way...

Homer's mix: Faves: Francis Bacon - Doog (a favourite before I even got the tracklisting - when are you going tour up North Doog?), Late Night Bus - The Longcut (listened to your mix 17 times till I noticed this was an instrumental track - in my humble opinion, the sign of a great instrumental track), The Wrong Way To Be - The Cribs, The Waltz - Fear of Music, Unsatisfied - Nine Black Alps Least faves: Sukkafish - The Grates (can't handle her voice), The King of Carrot Flowers - Neutral Milk Hotel (can't handle his voice either)
As a whole I always enjoy your mixes Homer - they're the perfect little snapshot of all that is new and exciting, however this one in particular had a tendency to make me cry (The Cribs, Nine Black Alps & Marine Girls being triggers) which is why this review has taken so damn long.

Aww thanks Nic. The Nine Black Alps track seems to have struck an emotional chord with a couple of you. I'll let them know when I next see them.
EDIT: Crispy, I still don't have your mix.
