After 17 years, the brilliant (and in my own humble opinion, best) Pixies album "Surfer Rosa" has finally gone gold! |

Gold? So they sold one million albums of Surfer Rosa?
I know Doolittle is already gold, but I don't know for the three others. Do you know? |

In the U.S.: gold = 500,000 platinum = 1,000,000 |

Frank announced it at the show last night. LBF mentions it in his post. |

So Doolittle is platinum and sold about 1,2 millions units. Thanks for the precision. |

Apparently Doolittle and Surfer Rosa are the only 2 Pixies albums to have gone gold... Ridiculous, and I learned it on pixiesdiscs.com |

Just in the US. I've read in Mojo magazine in 2001 (just before the release of Dog In The Sand) in an article about the legacy of the Pixies that Doolittle sold more than 1,2 millions copies.
So I guess Surfer Rosa just went gold in the US, not in the world. |

For clarification: Doolittle is still gold in the U.S.. Surfer Rosa and Doolittle have likely gone gold in other nations, though the number represented by the term "gold" varies between nations due to population differences. It is very plausible that Doolittle has sold over a million copies worldwide, though the terms gold, platinum, etc., have no place in describing worldwide sales.

It would be interesting to have the number of copies sold over the world since the beginning for the Pixies. I'm sure about what I said for Doolittle in reported in Mojo Magazine. |

That's really cool that Surfer Rosa went gold a couple of days ago. Not my favorite, but without that album, alot of the music I love probably wouldn't have happened. |
