Apologies if this has been posted already.
For the first time in 24 years all four of the guys are gonna perform, on July 2 in London at the Live 8 concert. Gilmour says he and Waters are putting aside their differences because it's so important to help increase aid to the Third World.
I'd go.

I've seen them separately a bunch of times in different places. It'd be cool to see them together.

Reunion shmunion! As far as I'm concerned there's no Pink Floyd reunion unless Syd joins them, which won't ever happen, of course.

kathryn, thanks for the topic. i was going to start one, but then i saw yours !
yeah, it seemed that hell finally freezes over. i hope they will make as good as the pixies. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS WILL BE ON TELEVISION SOMEWHERE ?
but i really don't think there will be a reunion tour (but i also didn't believe in a pixies reunion to happen, so...)
and i also hope gilmoure & waters are really relaxed. it would have been fun listening to their telephone call !

from rogerwatersonline.com:
"Roger Waters to perform again with Pink Floyd ___ It has now been announced officially that Roger Waters will indeed rejoin Pink Floyd for a one off performance with his former super group Pink Floyd. Roger Waters will join David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright for a 30 minute slot as part of the Live 8 concert planned for Hyde Park London July 2nd. According to UK press Pink Floyd will be the last act on stage and will perform 3 or 4 songs. Tickets are not on sale for the day long concert, although winners of a text entry competition will be alerted later this week. Further tickets will be available via media competitions, watch this space. Roger Waters has said of the planned concert, ""It's great to be asked to help Bob (Geldof) raise public awareness on the issues of third world debt and poverty. The cynics will scoff, screw 'em!" The London concert, which aims to send an anti-poverty message to leaders at next month’s G8 summit, will feature top acts including Cold Play, Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna and Robbie Williams and will be televised world wide."

i read it in a book on PF, which came out the late 90ies, i think. it is not very deeply recherched (it is more a beautiful picture book), but i think the author would not come up with such a statement if it isn't true. on the other hand, there are so many myths on syd, so...

article from 2002 "A few titbits, to finish. In 1998, Barrett was diagnosed as a B-type diabetic - a genetic condition - and was prescribed a regime of medication and diet to which he is sporadically faithful. His eyesight will inevitably become 'tunnelled' as a result - sooner, rather than later, unless he regularly takes his tablets. However, he is far from 'blind', as reported on the more excitable websites."
I'm really glad the 4 are reuniting, actually. Especially for such an awesome reason as this. |

thank you icecream, for clearing this up !
and thank you carl for those nice pics. however, only the first and last two ones show the original pig from the '77ies shows. legend has it that after their split there was legal battle on all the pf-trademarks, with one of them being the pig. waters sued them for using it again, but they rest claimed that their new pig is different since it has testicles (as one may wants to recognize on the 3rd picture). don't know if it's true, but funny anyways. like the story of waters toilet paper with gilmour's face printed on ot :-)

What´s the point in only playing for 30 minutes, you´re just getting warmed up by then.

That's a very decent bet. I also guess they'll only playing songs off those three albums. But they said it would be only 3 or 4 songs, you mentioned 5... I'm going for this setlist: 1. Shine on 2. brain damage 3. happiest days of our lives/another brick pt II |

The only Pink Floyd song I've really liked is "Bike." That's a Syd song, if I'm not mistaken.

G8 members are too uptight to really do anything. They do like the free drinks at the meeting, however. Sadly.....
