Inspired by the "posters paintings pictures postcards" thread, I've decided to start one about everybody's favorite musician-promoting shirts. (Non-shirt articles of clothing are also welcome.)
As you might have guessed, I have several TMBG T-shirts. Some of my favorites are:
I wish I could find some pictures of my Camper Van Beethoven shirts, but I can't. I'm actually wearing my CVB Revolutionary Manifesto T-shirt right now.
I also have a Weird Al shirt with this picture on it:
The only Frank-related shirt I have is a dark green Pixies one, which isn't that impressive, but I had to buy SOMETHING at that Pixies show I attended.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

fbc, I am so jealous now...
My first band shirt was a Clash one, so beautiful, that I still have it just for the memories it gives me because it's full of holes in it. Kathryn, you would love it too!

Was going to wax lyrical about some of my faves but no longer feel the need to. I think we should all just gather around and appreciate the beauty of fbc's t.
(could I also just have a quick mini rant as to why the hell so many bands seem to think that the only people who would want to wear their t's are L, XL & XXL? Or otherwise they do a really sucky design for the girlie sizes & keep the cool ones for the guys?) |

Testify, sister!
I look like a dork in most of my Rock Ts and therefore wear them only around the house. They look like oversize dresses on me. I wish music biz people would get a clue and make them for women. Which, I must say, the Pixies remembered to do during the last tour -- I found some nice Ts made for women, in women's sizes. Yay, Frank!

Well, better too big than too small, but I agree that they should have a variety of sizes.
On a related note, what is up with those "baby doll" T-shirts?
My first band-related T-shirt was one of Weird Al's entire band, from the Bad Hair Day era. I couldn't find any pictures of it, though.

I don't as yet have a digital camera, but hope to soon. Somebody keep this thread alive til then? My favourite shirt in the world is my black Groop Dogdrill shirt from 2000, and I also have a bunch of knock-offs from outside venues, such as Pixies and Go! Team. When Frank played the Astoria in London in October 2003 I bought a t-shirt (heh, I'm wearing it now, I just realised that) from off the street outside. A couple of months later, I started a three-week work-experience program at Cooking Vinyl, and the first day I was going to go and see Frank again in London (Shepherds Bush Empire). So, I go in on Monday morning with my new SMYT T-shirt on, and Hakon, the webmaster says hey, thats a rip-off, I designed that...
They were good with it fortunately. I just had to hide it from The Man's ace merch lady.

I had so many band shirts when I was younger, I still can remember a Siouxie & the Banshees, Cure, Alien Sex Fiend, Clash, Ramones...and I also painted a lot as it was so difficult to get them in this country at the time. So they were even more beautiful, they were unique!
my mind is so far away |

Great T-shirts! Man...there are so many t-shirts I didn't get in my life because of the size factor, and now I regret it. Even if I was to only wear them as nightshirts. Thanks to Frank though I have a nice new Pixies T from the 2005 tour and a Frank Black and the Catholics pink T-shirt from SMYT. The SMYT shirt is one of those "baby-dolls" No idea why it is called that. Fits me like a regular t-shirt.
On a totally lame note. I really should rumage through my mom's attic to get a picture. I actually have a Chicago t-shirt and....*gulp*...Rick Springfield.
So embarrassed! |

There are a couple of record labels and bands who finally seem to be getting the message that smaller t's may just sell. Luckily for me so many of the heavier bands that I enjoy also cater for teenage boys - I have a 3 Mastodon t shirts, 1 in particular that have managed to get me an unavailable tattoo appointment. An 80s Matchbox t shirt I love so much that I have 2 exactly the same and an Alabama Thunderpussy t shirt that is made of the softest cotton and cut like a dream. I'll find pics and post sometime. Those are just the favourites. Terrible Pixies pavement special that is badly printed and was bought in blind delirium after seeing them live the first time last year (I'd already bought one inside - the love was big for them that night). |

my favourite, which is now my wifes night shirt, is a family cat one, on the back it says all other bands are dogshite. I still have an original old faded death to the pixies t-shirt, but the one that I always wanted was a neds t-shirt which said we've talked about it now lets fuck.

I had an original massive old faded death to the pixies t (prized possesion as a teenager) which my little sister stole (thieving little shit) and is now more than likely no more. |

I've got perhaps two Pixies Ts from last years tour, and my own home-made one. Then I've got the red Catholics shirt. Besides that, I've got a couple from local bands that I've picked up at local shows. Band I don't even really care for, but like the shirts. My current favorite though is my black Unicorns shirt. Getting a bit small though, so I'm considering purchasing a new one.

I'm not sure exactly how to link an image but here's a link to a picture of my favorite Jawbreaker shirt, which I've never been able to get myself, but I've always thought it was one kick ass shirt. I have a really cool Johnny Thunders "Stations of the Cross" t-shirt that I can't believe I ever found and it's not just the album cover, I get so tired of band t-shirts that are just the front cover of one of their albums.

I'm not ready to post pics of all the many pix of Band shirts that I obtain and have obtained, but I can say I had about 14 led zepplin T's, 2 for everyday of the week in High School and have many along the lines of White Lion, AeroSmith, ReM, Pylon, Led Zepplin, Nirvana, Doors, Beck, FB, GVSB, Janes, Cornershop, Skid Row and more
To me, going to a concert or liking a band Meant that you had to Buy a t-shit in a accordance with that principle... hahahhah
I used to think that shit was soooo coool, hahahhah
