as by request (peer pressure peer pressure)
a thread about the girly things, the products and sprays the lotions and potions the pamperings and peels the treatments and treats.

I nominate the body shops body butter and Lush bath bombs as being most excellent.

and nothing is as lovely as a really good pedicure, mmm feet treat

I hope that I will live to see you undress

Did you say Body Shop Body Butter? I love that stuff and I use it every night.

Which is your favorite kind, kittie? I'm all about cocoa butter.

So, I am looking for a good cuticle cream. I am weirdly serious
about cuticles.

i have ridiculously bad cuticles, comes from washing my hands 60000 times a day. the body shop is too stinky, i can't even go in there without feeling sick.

i spend all my money on stupid girl stuff i don't need and then complain about how poor i am. it's like crack. recent purchases:

i discovered lush recently and i can't stop myself. it's hard because we don't have the shops over here so i'm buying without smelling. HOWEVER:

sex bomb - i want to live in this scent, love the litte rose that floats on the water after it dissolves.

bon bomb: makes me want to eat the bathroom. i used this one today. little pieces of avocado butter floating around the tub. mmmmm.

silky underwear - i can't quite figure this one out. i think i know how i'm supposed to be using it but it's a bit...itchy. i need help.

french kiss bubble bar, prrrr.

their after dinner soap, tequilla slammer bath capsules, and buffy the backside slayer bars are also excellent. I haven't been in store for a while (financial issues) but if they still do the summer day bath bombs they are ace.

I used to squeeze intensive moisturiser into the (powder and latex free) gloves at work because of the hibiscrub/betadine killing my skin.

Benefit, benefit products, I could go fucking nuts with those.

Cool.

Ever use Perscriptives? I went thru a major phase with their stuff
but haven;t lately. They make great subtle eye make up.

i use latex-free aloe gloves at work, they seem to help a bit. the trouble is that waterless alcohol sanitizing gel, it just eats your skin.

you have to be careful with benefit, they're hit or miss with me. and very expensive. i used to have a really bad MAC habit going back when i wore more, uh, noticeable makeup. i recently got into philosophy body products, the cinnamon bun shampoo/body wash is fantastic.

prescriptives has the best mascara around.

I can't use mascara. I look like Phyllis Diller.

MAC. Omigod, MAC. I carry mine everywhere, everywhere.

But you do have to be careful at that MAC counter because if
you don't buy a subtle shade you do end up looking like a
neon drag queen.

It's funny, I'm a total body care freak-a-zoid, always moisturizing
and stuff, but I despise the heavy-make up use. I'm very
low-key and subtle and hardly wear make up. Which is why
I love love love the brown MAC eye pencil.

But have you tried YSL? IMHO the finest.

Thank you for starting this thread Kitten. This is a topic I feel I excell at.

Lush for the soap - in particular Honey I Bathed The Kids - if I have a bar of that in the shower, it's not unusual for me to finish the entire thing in just over a week. The lather and the smell - I'm in there for hours.

Wholefoods toiletries aisle was a total overload experience for me - picked up some Sunshine Spa vanilla sugar scrub that smells and leaves your skin feeling unreal. Alba Kukui Nut body oil is another one that smells and works a treat (I'm slightly obsessive about smell and my own skin, so you may notice a theme developing here) - in fact a dose of the sugar scrub followed by the Kukui Nut oil is one that saved for the really intensive pampering.

Handcreams are another one that I cannot cope without (in fact the stuff I use at the moment is so good even the men at work steal it from me) - Crabtree and Evelyn goatmilk handcream is sublime - you can get a salt scrub type thing that goes with it which works like an instant manicure. As far as cuticle cremes go I'm rather partial to Burts Bees Lemon butter cuticle balm - smells like lemon cake. If my hands are looking like builders hands though what I do is use foot creme on them overnight (as I've said before the husband travels quite a bit - which means I can go to bed feeling like I've been oil wrestling and my hands coated in the stickiest stuff ever)

Oh we're just touching the tip of the iceberg here. And I wonder where all my money goes.

Am I the only girl here that doesn't spends money with this kind of stuff? Besides perfums, I don't really use anything, I'm feeling completly 'out' here.

Thank you for your support Frog, Port wine is good, and it's portuguese!

OK. I am totally addicted to that stuff. I carry a tube in my bag
at all times and I have another one by my desk and another
in my bathroom and a fourth one in my glove compartment.
I don't know how people ignore their hands the way they do.

I'm gonna buy some Burt's Bees lemon cuticle cream TO-day.
Thanks for that tip!

Tre, perhaps you ought to add to the first post here that this is a girls-only zone and would the guys please immediately go to

We need to feel free posting about our love of handcream without
worrying it will beget us inappropriate jokes.

You are more than qualify to be here, Rita!
a) you are female
b) you use perfume

Frog, however, as a guy, cannot participate. Please go to the
Men's Locker Room thread immediately. Thank you.

Now, Rita, about perfumes...which do you like?

I always wear the same one and I despise
being anywhere near an overly perfumed woman.

But what about your hands? Aren't they rough and dry because
of the lack of pampering? I am worried about you, Rita.
What about after you shave your legs? Surely you have a collection
of favorite oils or something!

My perfume at the moment is 'Contradiction', CK, that smells very well and the name matches exactly with me!

I'm not that kind that uses always the same, when one finishes I must change for another.

May I also say that sometimes I wear eyeliner?

Shave my legs? I don't do that, I take them off with wax! Don't you do that overthere?

And my hands Kathryn, they are a complete mess sometimes, cuts, dry...everything. but that's also because of my job, I'll never have 'chicks' hands

Eyeliner? You're talking my language now, Rita. During the
two horrific days I was in labor, I would literally lock myself
in the bathroom away from everybody and put on my MAC
eyeliner. It was my one grounding shelter, my moment of
Zen.

Rita, I want to again say I am worried but also want to offer you hope. No matter how hard your work is on your hands, it is
possible to have soft skin. Please let me and Surfer and
Tre and Dayanara and the rest of the fb.net ladies help you.
Please reach out to us as we are reaching out to you.

Wax is too painful. Good god no. I'd rather shave and apply
oil.

Not even nice smelling stuff for the shower Rita?

I still remember the day I realised my gym bag was made up of more shower goodies than gym kit and that I was spending longer in the shower, sauna & steam room at gym than working out.

Of course that I use smelling stuffs in the shower! But I don't have any extra care with it, that's what I meant.
Now you'll be all thinking that I am weird, and I'm not. I just never cared for those kind of things...like haidressers, that I hate to go. Or to the gym.

I don't particularly like the hairdressers either though I think that's more to do with having to make inane conversation with an airhead and a rather dodgy experience with a coked up hairdresser who insisted on trying to feel me up while cutting my hair - me on my own in the salon with him, last appointment of the day - him weilding fuck off big scissors.

Surfer, I am typically possessive of my hairdresser because he is
that good but I'd be happy to book you an appointment during your
next road trip across the US. He is fabulous, respectful, funny,
does great hair and can talk about hanging out with Gianni Versace
and bidding on the Marilyn estate at Sotheby's. You'd die it's so much fun.

And would it be boasting if I mentioned that my former facialist had
a one-nigher with Michael Jordan? The conversation we had
afterwards was definitely not inane.

Niiiiice! Now that is the way to do it and thank you. I have since had my haircut by some wonderful hairdressers since - a hot blonde with enormous cleavage and rockabilly swallows tattooed on her breasts in Santa Monica, but yours sounds most worthy of a visit.

I have to admit, I'm not overly pampery, I have good aprict moisturiser with sparkly reflective bits in it, make-up wise I'm all about the kohl and lip balm (passionfruit mmm) although I do have a few generic dept store lip/eye/cheek creams with a glittery sheen to them, and a rocket city solar slammin eye cream that I adore, sort of purple gold and glittery. I very rarely splash out on crazy cosmetics, I don't ever pluck my eyebrows (don't have to much to the frustration of my friends) bt I am aware of having really good skin (soft like a babies) and good hair (again soft and straight, I can get away with using 50p APPLE SHAMPOO from the supermarket) but my nails are crappy, they break and I had a biting habit they don't seem to have recovered from.

Great - I come out of the closet as total high maintenence freak and you lot all suddenly go carefree and no effort required on me. (I can do both, I just have more fun with the other).

Kitten - I haven't smelled happy (or it hasn't left an impression on me) but if you liked your old one try Vivienne Westwood Boudouir.

yes ma'am! I will look into it directly, because I did love it so

It's not carefree it's lazy nic is what I am, If I got up in the morning and wasn't a poor student you can garuntee everything with an interesting bottle would be stacked up in the bathroom, my dads gf has filled the bathroom at their house like an aladins cave of goodness.

I am a compulsive moisturiser though, don't want smokers skin and I have this one perma-dry patch on my ankle which disturbs me so I slather the stuff one like its a second skin. When I get back up north where there are shops (bloody coast) I might go on a little spree

God, I do like what you tell me of Squeaks, Tre. Clinique Happy is too flowery plus the bottle's plain jane. Part of the thrill of pampering is the visuals.

Zub, you are a richer woman than I am. I spend obscene
amounts of money on my perfume, I am embarrassed to say.

Take heart, Surfer, you are not alone, I, too, am compulsive
about grooming, so much so that since I last posted I have
bought myself yet more bath oil. SIX VIALS to be exact.

Isn't that just perpetuating the stereotype that men don't use/care about bath products? Mind you, I fit that stereotype, but not ALL men do.

And I experienced more than enough of men's locker rooms in junior high, so, aside from this post, I'm probably going to be avoiding both this and that thread.
