We use PAL (or SECAM in France), not NTSC. Some (expensive) VCR can record in NTSC though. |

They're pretty rare things - I've got someone who may be able to help though.

Assuming my recording is successful, I can torrent a copy of this at http://www.dimeadozen.org I'll be capturing this from DVB digital TV using a PC DVB card and the DVD will contain the original MPEG data as broadcast, meaning that the quality is identical to the original broadcast.
I have two choices - create a DVD containing the whole Later... show (about 2GB in size), or just Frank's performance (probably about 300MB-400MB, depending on the number of tracks and whether there is also an interview).
Or if there is a demand, I could do both. But my preference would be to share the whole Later... show.
In any case, the DVD will (of course) be PAL format. I won't be converting it to NTSC. For those of you in NTSC-land, I would recommend looking to buy a DVD player capable of playing back PAL discs - I've read that $40 "Cyberhome" models can do that.

"I also feel in very lofty company being with someone like Van Morrison. I am just shocked to be here"!
Reading this, I remembered an old news paper clipping I had from when his debut album came out and talking about Van the little squwelling pig man(I do like Van) and in relation to changing his personae and music style and leaving the Pixies behinde.
"It'd be like a Van Morrison concert, for example, only doing his most recent material, which is fine for hardcore fans but for bozos like me that come to hear the hits you always walk away feeling a little ripped off."

"Former Pixies front man, FRANK BLACK is back with his first solo work in almost 10 years. Entitled ‘Honeycomb’ he describes the recording of it as “the most mind blowing experience of my career”. Black rounds off this week’s musical line-up and will be performing a special acoustic set from the album. You can also see more of what Frank has to say in an interview on the Later website.
Actor PAUL KAYE, is popping in as well to talk about his new film, “It’s All Gone Pete Tong”. I’ll be chatting to Paul about popular cockney rhyming slang and other bits and bobs!

Heh, me too! Very sleek. Also spotted the Long Beach thing - somebody's going to be pleased (I honestly can't remember who took what stance...)
So far: Kaiser Chiefs - kind of detached John Legend - boring Van Morrison - cool, of course

Aaargh - I'm letting my VCR do the work - I don't have the patience to sit through all the other stuff. I plan to Frank binge over coffee first thing tomorrow morning. Me and the remote at one. |

why do the Kaiser Chiefs have to go "wooooaaahhhhhhhhhh" in every bloody song. It's getting bloody irritating.

yes - but don't you just wish you could fast forward the whole lot and just savour the good bits? I'm getting awfully tired of Kaiser Chiefs at the moment but fear I have a long way to go yet. |

Oh yes, very very good. 'I Burn Today', just your Man and a guitar. Excellent vocals I thought, and a really nice sound.

I couldn't get my video capture card to work properly, so no vid caps I'm afraid.
However...
I have managed to to record the performances and get lots of screenshots :)
I'll pop into the Soulseek room once the show's finished and share the spoils.
That is legal, right? :S

Only the fact I taped it has given her a second chance. Unbelievable.
Actually, she thinks the Pixies are the worst band in history. What was I thinking

great performance. shame my tv/freeview box failed in the last 30 seconds. fate man. could have fucked up anytime, but it had to blow up during the highlight of my week.
luckily i am recording it on my computer with tv card. edit: one thing, when i load saved mpgs i've recorded with the tv card in windows movie maker it's jsut a black screen (despite playing fine in media player etc.) so i'll have to figure out a way to edit the files. it's 1gb at the minute, 20 mintues left.
reckon there's any chance of any more/interview, etc?
Oh let it linger |
