Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and someone else who I think I'd like to change my vote to Oasis.
Somehow they manage to anger and infuriate me by just existing. |

I have to check Creed out, as they are winning by far.

I think I don't even want to know Creed, there are so many bad bands that sometimes I have to listen, that life would be much better without them.

Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed Creed CREED! It's not just their shitty music. Find any interview with any member of the band. They're absolutely convinced they're God's gift to music. They KNOW that every last note they've ever played is even more prolific than the note before. Papa Roach is crap. But at least they covered Gouge Away on their last album (albeit a shitty cover, but at least they have SOME taste). Limp Bizkit is also crap, but at least Wes Borland (sp?) has something to offer the music world. Not much, but better than nothing. Creed had nothing to offer. They were selfabsorbed for no good reason whatsoever. I'm pretty forgiving of most bands/artists, and can always find some redeeming factor in their music. I can't do that with Creed. |

I've heard that even Jesus doesn't like Creed.

I don't think we have the faculties to fully appreciate the brilliance of the above-mentioned band. |

I guess "Galaxy" may apply there. Though I believe they played somewhere near Milliways. That's at the end of the universe. Isn't it? |

Okay - I'll change it back to Creed then. Even though the UK has thankfully been spared of them and I have to endure the mindless wankfest and lemming like behaviour regarding Oasis' new album. |

I enjoy queen. And radiohead? c'mon. there are alot worse bands. obviously it's a matter of opinion, which is why topics like this suck (much like floop's "this topic will suck" topic), but there are definitely bands out there we can ALL agree on. I'd say at least 30% of the people on this board like radiohead, or at least can tolerate them.
Creed... no one here likes them. it's just a given. John Mayer, another one we can all agree on.
no offense to the person who started this thread. it's still a good topic even though it sucks. if that makes sense.

Y'know what, they played Deep Blue Something's Breakfast At Tiffany's in a pub I was in yeterday. It's like Bon Jovi pretending to be indie. It reminds me of The Rembrandts(maybe there the worst, ahem, 'rock' band). "Yooou'll saaaaay!" That fake-o echoey guitar line that keeps poping up....the end of the song reminds me of the ending of Monkey Gone To Heaven(in a BAD way!) |

Yes, but I don't think they actually played there. Hotblack Desiato was there, but the gig he went to play was on Kakrafoon (I think), about two million years before the present era.
As for Radiohead, I've never been a fan (a little too down for my taste, I guess), but I won't deny that they are, technically speaking, good musicians. Certainly far from the worst rock band on Earth, let alone the Galaxy.

Well they had to play NEAR Milliways because when Arthur and the gang got onboard his ship it flew into a nearby sun as part of Hotblack's show. It had to be close enough for the narrative to continue undeterred, and I don't think they were going super fast.
And it's funny that you mention that Radiohead is a little too down. I'm not much of a fan of lyrics, but I get a big kick out of how many times they hint at the Hitchhiker's Guide on their album "OK, Computer," an album that gets its title right from a line of dialogue in the book. That shows me a certain amount of humor.
P.S. I fucking hate Creed. |

I guess it's more the tone of their music that seems kind of down. I wasn't trying to imply that they lacked a sense of humor.
Really, I don't think I've heard enough of their songs to really judge them fairly. I do like "Paranoid Android" (another Hitchhiker's reference!) pretty well, though.

From a distant view of all of their compositions, I like Radiohead (where they came from, where they're going).
But an album or a song, I would say it's all over-rated. They're a bunch of rich snobs with expensive toys that sound cool. Press repeat on your electronic toy, play drums in a contradictive time signature, and mumble 3 or 4 words... you got Radiohead! |

I wish it were that easy to get their sound. Part of me is in love with the recording style Frank has done with the Catholics. Recording live to two tracks is very difficult, if you want it to sound good, and they make it sound great. But the other part of me is in love with all the neat toys and bells and whistles it takes to give Radiohead the sound they've been developing, along with a few other select musicians out there. I'm not as much of a fan of, like Kirk said, the mumbling. Thom Yorke is a very talented songwriter, and as Frank himself even said, it'd be nice if he spoke up a little bit. But I'm less interested in that aspect of Radiohead's music. As a budding musician and recording engineer, I'm consistently astounded by the production that goes in to any given Radiohead song. My friend and I are desperately trying to track down the leaked early mixes from their album Hail To The Thief, because we want to hear how the songs started out after being recorded, so we can maybe get an inkling of how they evolve the sound from there. They've done a stellar job of challenging themselves and pushing their limits, musically and technically. It just sucks because I, along with many other people in my position, have a difficult time keeping up. |

The Vinyl Test...
Currently, I measure if a band/album sucks (or not) if.. ..it agrees with the vintage quality and sound of a record.
You know, like FB's Devil's Workshop, or Iron and Wine, or Sufjan Stevens.
I love the LoFi. Maybe it's resistance against the overproduced crap I'm hearing on the radio. |

I love LoFi as well, and was, as a matter of fact, basking in the glow of Iron and Wine just this evening. It suits the music. Just how the 4-track recording suited Ween in the beginning, and their glossy production suits their music with the more recent albums. I have a hard time relating to the term "overproduced." Yes, there is the obvious subjects of this method; the teeny-bop spit-shined music that doesn't have a single natural note or beat in it. That music exists so they can have something exciting playing at the beginning of basketball games. But that kind of "overproduction" in groups like Radiohead, I feel, is just as important to the composition of the song as its vocals or drums, or any other rock standard. I view it as just another instrument. Does that make sense? I'm probably just rambling. |

There is a middle ground between lo-fi and overproduced crap, and I think Radiohead sit there pretty well.

maybe we should put some rules here. there are a lot of crappy bands but not all of them are popular and\or had an influence or a steady pubblic over the years. i mean the eagles suck but most people are not familiar with their discography like for example with queen or aerosmith. so i'd leave new bands or one hit wonder bands out. i say that the worse band of the whole galaxy should be one that tortured people for a long time with stupid albums, huge hype and massive audience. like queen, or radiohead.
