Worst in the galaxy and Queen and Dire Straits are being mentioned? How about Motley Crue, Scorpions, Ratt, Warrant, Bon Jovi, Striper, Moody Blues, Chicago, all of the boybands, all of the girl bands, and the Eagles.

Thanks, BLT. I was waiting for the Eagles. Hotel California has the worst solo ever. It's all thirds. Not that I often make it to the end of that song.
I don't mind Pearl Jam all that much, though. Or maybe I do, but I try to convince myself I don't so that I won't regret having bought the Riot Act LP. The packaging was very nice. It was heavy and smooth. It smelled nice. I will say that Pearl Jam is not the least unoriginal band out there. A band like Nickelback would undoubtably sound worse, for they are very money-grubbing, watered-down, and commercialized. | I thought this was going to be a thread about Creed. Have you ever heard them talk about themselves? Or the fact that concert goers had tried to get their money back because the band was playing drunk. But they weren't really drunk. They were just that bad. Creed makes me feel guilty being a musician. |

I can't believe someone listed Dire Straits (or Led Zep or Radiohead)! Much less two people. If you've listened to anything of theirs, they're really not bad at all. Certainly much less offensive than Nickleback/Creed/Linkin Park/Creed/Backstreet Boys/Creed/Creed/Creed/etc.
Really, worst band of all time. There is no one worst band. It's every band out there whose sole existence in the 'music' scene is to milk someone else's sound/popularity/success (or horniness/fangirlishness) for every cent they can suck blood from.

I also find it hard to understand why Dire Straits would be so disliked. Mark Knopfler is a fabulous guitarist and a hell of a songwriter.
Plus he poked fun at the idiocy of MTV. I thought that was a "good" thing in the minds of the hipper-than-thou musical cognoscenti.

You totally beat me to the punch here. I can't believe Dire Straits is on this list. Also...Aerosmith!!! I have been listening to Aerosmith cira 1973 lately. I gotta say that for 19 year olds back then...they were making some seasoned music. Listen to the arrangement of their songs from then and compare them to the 19 year olds making music now. No contest!
Now....if we are talking about rock bands that we think aren't as gifted as musicians. I would have to say Creed. |
