Jesus christ, what's with all of the Kurt Cobain bashing? It's not Kurt's fault that they ask Frank about Nirvana/Kurt in every damn interview. Kurt just named Frank as ONE of his influences. If you had ever read anything about Cobain, you would know that his favorite band was THE VASELINES and not The Pixies. In fact, in a listing of his favorite albums, Surfer Rosa wasn't even in the top 20, I believe.

And all of this because of one statement by Kurt, about how he got the dynamics for "Teen Spirit" from "Gouge Away". Jesus christ.

Kurt was so humble in his early days that he passed up a chance to meet Frank because he felt he wasn't good enough to meet him. Sure, he sprayed him with a Fire extinguisher years later when he was strung out on drugs, but I do believe he was just pissed off about The Pixies breaking up, which was, I honestly believe, Frank's fault. I'm not going to get into who's fault it was, but we all know how Frank can be sometimes. He even says himself that he's cooled off a lot in his older age.

YES, Kurt had a problem, and his life came to a tragic end. But he was very talented and didn't try to COMPETE with Frank, and didn't even try to EMULATE him. He just looked up to him, like all of us here do.

I don't think I really want to post here when everyone seems to get off on making fun of people who were great in their own right and felt the need to END their own life because of personal problems they had. I respect Kurt just as much as I do Frank and it pisses me off highly.

BTW, spunXtain (I only just 'got' your name now! :D), the Kurt chiding is all in good fun!Personally, I though he was hugely talented and very creative, and Nirvana probably had a lot of different influences besides The Pixies. Like a lot of teenagers, I really felt like I identified with him, and his music gave me a lot of comfort when I was going through all those growing pains!

On a lighter note, I love Kurt's expression in that Grease pic, Kitten!! :D

Actually, that incident was already in August 1991, and the Pixies only broke up in 1992. Not that it matters a lot...

no KC-bashing here, in my opion. just making fun of dull writers wo don't get tired mention the "huuuuuuuuge" influence of the pixies on this and that. because they read it in some other dull writer's article.

and the pixies breaking up was no fault !!!! it gave us 10 awesome fb records and the presence of the catholics !!!!!
