What is your favorite Frank "mistake" or "extra" on a song. For example, I love the "HUH!" at the end of Men In Black or the "oh, I better not" at the end of The Man Who Was Too Loud. Also, the laughing in 666 or the "sounds like the Cars" in the accoustic version of Czar.

Anyway, if you know what I mean, please share your own favorite Frank "screw up".

Actually, I believe the "oh, fuck!" is uttered by Kim in the BBC 'Is She Weird". I had always assumed it was Charles, but a couple years back I was listening closely, and it definately dawned on me that it is Kim. Listen closely.

At the risk of seeming to quarrel with the basic tenet of this
thread, I wish to say that I don't view any of these as mistakes
rather as further proof of Frank's brilliance and humor.

It's not my fav, but I need some input.
At the beginning of Bullet, talking to Scott he references the drummer of a band whose name I'm not getting. To me it sounds like "15 lbs. of What's-His-Name", which would be a cool name for a band, but I doubt that's it.

My favorite is probably on The Man That Was Too Loud. But then there is the "Soul st..." thing on Jaina Blues which bugs the Hell out of me everytime I hear it.

don't know if it's a mistake but there's a chord in TMWWTL that' isn't nailed as accurate as the others.
maybe one they left in as the take was one of the best.
And you're kidding right Marsist, about what he was going to sing? thought so.

I usedta have this radio interview w/ Frank... He plays Jumpin Beans & fucks up the lyrics, stops himself, says: "Those are the wrong words, but who gives a hoot?", and then repeats the verse, getting it right this time & promptly congratulating himself for doing so ("Yeah! ... Uh-huh! ... That's it!")

FB messes up the notes to The Marsist at times, like he muted the strings by accident. I don't really know if I like it or not. That song is sooo weird.

A thread about Frank that we haven't already had 10 times before, and that is interesting and cool! Em you're the greatest!

Another one I love is from the Black Sessions, when he dedicates Headache to some guy (Batter? Don't know what he says) and then sings "I made you a copy... Batter!" in MIB.

It's not really a mistake, as such.

"Robert Onion" non-accoustic version on DOG IN THE SAND
At approx. 3:05 in to the song, after all the vocals, and just prior to the funky ending with all the synthesized sounds, you can hear Frank, Scott, or Dave (?) count off "1,2,3,4" but you have to turn it up to 11 to hear the "1,2..." the "3,4..." is obvious at a lesser volume. Btw, one of those funky synthesized sounds at the end is similar to the sounds I can make on my 8 year old daughter's "recorder (plastic flute taught in elemenatary grade music classes)", very Coo-Coo clockish.

Also two things from "Take What You Want" from the "Everything is New" single, First, the first sound you hear at the beginnig is the guitar and Frank says "Jimmy (?) Chimey (?) shimmy (?), I can't quite make it out. And, second, at approximately 0:56 in to the song when Frank sings "I'm on my way now..." he is not quite ready as he sings "I'm on..." as if he has taken a drink from his Coca-Cola and has just finished swallowing as he begins singing.

And, I think this was intended: "Changing of the Guard" from the Brown Album's extra CD, at the beginning, Lyle Workman (I think it's coming from the left side, however it could be my other left side and, in that case, it would be Frank) starts the song off with a "long scratch of his guitar strings", it sounds like the prying open of some rusty gate...perhaps to allow for the "Changing of the Guard"

Great Thread! I'll have some more later, I'm sure, Frank's live-to-two track stuff is full of interesting extras!

Thanks, Denis. I heart you.

I love all the times he will quietly sing the chorus over the end of the song, like in I NEED PEACE and a million other songs. I still notice that sometimes.

Another silly thing I love is the "Green Acres" part in All My Ghosts. Oh, and the "meoooow!" in Man Who Was Too Loud, which is not Frank, but I love it.

It's more like a "roooowl!" and it's fairly quiet. Mereubu and I had a long discussion about it and concluded it was McDave.

My favorite improvised Frank moment is from some radio interview I downloaded...

He's playing "You Never Heard About Me" acoustic by himself (i love how he plays b-sides so much) and in the middle of the song, while still strumming chords he starts asking the DJ woman "What do you think this song is about?"

She is uncomfortable cause this is weird for her, she's like "umm...Is it about you?"

Frank says "It's not about me.....c'mon...guess"

and she just stays quiet, and Frank is like "She's not guessing"

and then she goes "I dont want to interrupt the tune, man!"

then he goes back into the song but then messes up the chords and is like "woops!"...

Its a hilarious performance...Actually it really inspired me to be more loose and casual with my music...not be so nervous at shows and to chill the FUCK out.

I haven't heard that one. his sense of humour and playfulness is second to none....love it!

This reminds me of a solo acoustic version of 'The Man Who Was Too Loud' where Fb messes up a few chords, adds a few "whoops!" and even stops to start where he left off with the correct chord. I think there's someone there called Kyle (maybe the dj, i forget) who frank gets to sing the lead guitar parts along with him. It includes an extended ending with frank ad libbing a few words.
Guess you have to hear it to feel the humour. One of my favourite solo performances.
