I just got BLD last week, and enjoyed it, I reckon it will be a grower. And I only got DW the week before, but I was'nt to impressed with that. I've got all Frank's main albums(except for Honeycomb, of course)now. Anyone else not heard all of Frank's albums until recently/yet? |

Hey Carl, other than Honeycomb and some of the live bootleg stuff, I believe I've got it all...
I'll tell you though, I like BLD, one of my favorites, however, the first 6 months or so that I listened to it I got so fuckin' depressed, I mean, I still listened to it and the dark cloud lifted soon after I turned BLD off each time or cleared the songs from my head after listening to it, but songs such as "Cold Heart of Stone", "Black Letter Days", "How you went so far" "End [God] of miles", "1826", and "I will run after you" were real tear-jerkers for me. And, the interesting thing about was that I skipped all the other songs and seemed to be drawn toward the sad ones.
Recently, I have been able to learn of and acquire all of the b-sides (or most of them anyway) and I've used the time between SMYT and Honeycomb to do just that. So, yeah, some of The Man's stuff is new to me. And, what a thrill it is to discover and really get to know new songs by The Man!

valentine and garuda is my favourite FB song ever.
I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I drifted after COR. Then, about 4 years later I got The first FB+C's album, when I was working over in Holland. It did'nt really grab me, but a couple of years after that i really got into Frank again. All My Ghosts is such a great song. So I caught up with the Catholics albums, and wormed my way back into the FB mileu! It's funny how albums can grow on you, and after some disappointment a song or an album can reaffirm your faith in an artist. I remember hearing The St. Francis Dam Disaster get some praise on this site, and after hearing it a couple of times, it really struck me. Some of The Catholics stuff is so beautiful, the guitar melodies, etc. In fact, I was just playing a long to St. Francis last night(My guitar was tuned fairly perfectly, and I noodled off a few notes to it on my telecaster). I can just see Frank in a couple of decades doing a Bob Dylan! He has probably yet to create his best album, he's only 40 now! |

I was a latecomer to the world of Frank, but I've been pretty up-to-date on current releases since becoming a fan. I bought BLD, DW, SMYT, and FBF on their release dates, and I'll probably do the same for Honeycomb.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

I still don't have FB&tC yet for some reason. I bought Frank Black when it was released, but couldn't get into it. FB kind of left my radar then, until I bought DITS completely on spec, and was blown away. Oh, don't have FBF yet either.
