As you've doubtless noticed, we've redesigned our forum to have a new look. The rest of the site shouldn't be too far behind. Look for changes in the next week or so.
For regular patrons, you'll surely notice that our new theming is much more generalized, encompassing Frank's entire career and in particular, his Catholics-era work. There are hints of things to come as well as references to what has passed. We hope you'll agree that this is an improvement over the Show Me Your Tears theme of old, which was becoming increasingly dated.
While we will probably be under construction for the next week or so as we implement the new design, please feel free to post your thoughts on the new look here
And while you're at it, be sure to give a big pat on the back to our tireless art team, who have worked, well, tirelessly. In alphabetical order, Active Duck, Apl4Eris, Daisy Girl, Frank Black Conspiracy, Starmekitten, thanks for a fantastic job and all the hard work! Dave & I appreciate it greatly as will, hopefully, everyone else. I hope I didn't miss anyone.
A few notes:
1) Some of you may notice that you now have less bees than you had kitties. Because the numbers have been climbing for members' post counts, the value of a bee has been increased in some cases.
2) The log in/out buttons will be changed over tomorrow, as well as the "Go!" button on the members' screen.
3) The purple kitties that forum admins have will be white.
4) The bar at the bottom (-= Frank Black Forum =- (C) 2002-2005 Frank Black Fans, Inc) will be recoloured or made transparent eventually.
Again, thanks to everyone who worked on this, so very much. I hope that with a little more work we'll be able to bring you the main site update soon. Also, thanks to everyone (Dayna, PixieSteve, Broken Face, and doubtless others) who popped in to give their opinions as we developed this.
We hope you enjoy the new look!

Additionally, art team, you've all been knighted in the FB.Net tradition. Which is to say, I've given you titles. Or rather, stolen the one I gave Apl4Eris in honour of her artistic ability. It just fits.

looks good.
i guess it's too late for suggestions, but i think something other than the usual blue font would look better with the brown.. like maybe orange?
brown and orange look good together.

I looks very good, at first I thought it was me, my eyes... But I miss the kitties already, I think they made more sense than the bees.
And I must congratulate everyone involved on this work, spending their free time to make this forum even more beautiful than it was already.
I feel like a completely different person |

The new look is great. I want that 70's wallpaper in my house. Hope the bees will take away the storm.

I'm not sure I like the fonts coloured this way, but just playing around. I might go back to the blues and then maybe avoid using bee colours that look less than good.
Maybe I just have to adjust...

I like the bees too. They make busybee love. But it seems there should be something kinda Frank Black-ish here too, like UFO's or something.

The difference of colour between a link that has already been opened (dark brown) and one that hasn't (regular brown) is too slight. Do you know what I'm talking about? |

I do, but it's hard to separate them enough without making the unvisited link look too light (and I can't make the visited much darker without losing the brown tint). I'll play some more, I guess...

the brown links fit in much better than the blue ones, however they seem a bit too faint and wish washy. jsut a suggestion, maybe try making it the dark brown, or even black? or would that just look like underlined text.
anyway, great look otherwise. well done art team.
edit: starmekittens suggestion in the other thread is a good one, switching the visited and unvisited colours.

lets see how some of these colours actually look (maroon) if we keep the blue font the red bee has to go, it really has to (purple) because it looks really terrible imho (orange) but we can't have too many colours because of people checking from work (brown) well?
edit: what I said in t'other thread -->I think orange would also clash with the red bees a lot (unless they change) and be too coloured for those who are checking from work.
The browns are pretty well defined on my screen, although I'd have had the regular font dark and the clicked font light. But thats me.
I think the only bee that really clashed was the red one, which I think actually looks out of place from the rest of them anyway, how about a purple bee? If you mods aren't going beewards

I am quite liking the purple, the cats look bad in purple, but the font looks ok. The orange doesnt work. The Last reddish font looks ok 2

i like the way the first and last one looks in kitty's post
i think the current dark brown font looks great, but the light (as pixiesteve said) is too light. it's kind of hard to read.
personally i could live without having clicked topics be a different shade..
maybe we should have a poll

That blue in the new topic folder looks rather good at the top right of the screen. Would it clash?

I tried the blue in that folder but as a font it was way too light. I could play with dark shades of it. For the moment, let me know what you think of the browns now (I also reversed em ... the dark = not visited now).
The purple just rubs me the wrong way, I guess.

Can we get the Catholics back together now?
(Seriously. Can we?
Also just as seriously, certain people put tons of work into this for everybody's benefit and I thank them.
Now, about the reunion...)
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics |

I love the new look. Good job. This is pretty much the theme I've been imagining that the Honeycomb artwork might take. |

Great job, all involved! I was completely shocked to see it and love it--a major improvement over the last one. I'm looking forward to the rest of the changes.

Good for Frank! Good for all of them.
It's great that the forum's reflecting Frank's future studio work (the wonderful Honeycomb) and no longer his past (the amazing SMYT).
Here's to an FB+TheCs album, tour and forum look somewhere down the road.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go play Pistolero and cry me some more.
