Don't know if it is too late to jump in here but I have had a billion forum crushes. All the Henhouse people spring to mind, but I also love anyone on here who posts smart things and doesn't get into all the bullshit that goes on. Yet, on the other hand, I love a smart ass and anyone who is very funny always gets me interested.
Oh, and the UK thing - I like that too.
I can't begin to list all the forum crushes I have had/still have...
(PS. Dayanara, is your sig from Heathers? It's so familiar...)

UK I can do, smart and funny maybe not.
I'm busy trying to work out real-life crushes here, I don't have any time for imaginary people like you lot (in the nicest possible way...). I'm considering adding a fourth person to the list of those I'm in love with.

Cheeseman, who is on your list? You know my love of all things cheesy.

Ah well, the list of the Cheese. Don't worry it's no-one on here (although, Em, if you want a placing on there all you have to do is ask ).
Number one is pop princess Natasha Bedingfield, inexplicable in it's reasoning. Number two is Katie from the undergrad registry that I worked with last summer. Number three is a possible/not quite sure Irish girl that I know. Potential number four is Sarah that I work with, which would be highly innappropriate, and I know and am happy with the fact that nothing'll ever happen there, but its all good. Number five, who knows?
As far as I can tell, I'm not on anyone's list though. Sigh...
(I'm not sure if the hapless romantic look is in this year...)

I love this thread.
The best and most innapropriate crush I ever had was on a bus driver, yes a bus driver! when I was 17 I used to travel miles to get to college and every morning catch the number 365 bus from Bromsgrove to Stourbridge and the first day of the summer there was this new bus driver. He was quite frankly probably horrible, but had these fantastic arms (don't ask) and floppy dark hair, probably mid thirties. For the next four or five weeks my day would start with trying not to stare at the cute (in my head) bus driver listening to the my iron lung ep or the bends on my walkman. I remember one day being so miserable when we had a different bus driver, until after college when he was there to drive the bus home!
aah happy days!
I wish everyone on my course wasn't so vile though, even by my standards there's nothing half fanciable in the bunch.

Oh, are we talking about general crushes now? I have (and have had) lots of those too. One crush totally changed my life in HUGE ways. And then I also have a TEENY crush on a certain Catholics bass player, and that contributed to getting me into a show for free. So, crushes are great. I am all about them!

All crushes are welcome in this thread!
I was just reminded by the word innapropriate of terrible bus driver whom I loved, I'm going to remind my housemate when she gets home, she thought I was nuts that summer. It was a fair conclusion though to be honest.
At uni we all had a crush on our lecturer but he won't be teaching us anymore so we're having to scout around for new material. Although we were up in the offices giving in our summer research recommendatins and while we were hovering cute lecturer walked past, Charlie and I squealed and tried subtely to make Smits turn round but she was too slow and missed him, we didn't stop hearing about that all day, he really isn't that cute either (but we love him) Check shirt guy is cute but too skinny (really skinny) the only guy on my course is G "I'm not a racist I've slept with lots of asian women" S who is a total dick.
Bloody Sheffield, it lacks!
Is it any wonder I have to fall for all you forum boys (nearly all nearly all)

But don't you all think that crushes are at least emotionally expensive and possibly socially expensive?
So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

No way! it's better than emotional sterility, I'd rather fall in love thrity times a day than never at all as it reaffirms what I have always known in that I'm an idiot for this sort of shit. There's nothing wrong with those little thrills and heart jumpy moments when you see your crush wander past, it makes you feel alive! It's the greatest thing in the world. Relationships are emotionally expensive, crushes are cheap and fleeting and they really do rock!
I'm really very pro-crushes at the moment because for the last two years I have been lamenting not that I was single but that I wasn't wth a certain someone, that was oppressive. Now thats gone I don't care that I'm single and I'm quite happy for the odd fleeting unattached crush to occur, hormonally 17 so my average crush at the moment has a 3 day lifespan.
I guess when it develops into more than just an idle crush though, into the unrequited love territory that can be emotionally draining but personally I am avoiding anything emotionally heavy right now.
foot loose and fancy free baby!

I think thats where I make mistake, then - letting it go a bit far.
I do enjoy it though.
What if you were committed to someone and you started having your little crushes again - would you become insecure about your feelings for your SO? Are microcrushes a harbinger of impending relationship storms or death?
So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

Brian, when you say you confessed your crush to your crush are you speaking of the forum crush with whom you so cruelly replaced me? I just want to be clear on this. As I stick my head in the oven. Thanks.

From an email volley with an old friend in a state far away...she just broke up with her live in. We had said that we thought each other was attractive...that we knew we liked each other back then...7 or 8 years and thousands of miles ago...this is her speaking:
"yeah, you're right. we did know that back then i guess, but i wasn't going to admit unless you did! i think "huge crush" would be a more accurate description for how i felt about you. i didn't just think you were attractive.
anyway, too bad we never got a chance to share that house, among other things."
she may be back in town for a while in a month or so. How can I describe how I feel? Hopeful? Giddy? Nervous? Excited?
all of the above, ma'am. all of the above. |
