I got this off pixiesmusic.com on their board...interesting.
The Roseland in Portland is hosting 4 Pixies shows in 2 nights before they head up to the Gorge at George for the Sasquatch Fest. The shows will be Thursday and Friday, May 26th & 27th. The setup for both nights is an early show at 7pm and a late show at 10pm. Tix are $40 plus service fee BS. Don't know when they go on sale.
I'm guessing that these shows probably won't have opening bands, cuz the early shows start at 7 and doors for the late show are at 9 , leaving only 2 hours max for the early show to get done in.
See monqui.com - Oregon shows - for more details. |

Now THIS may mean they are gonna try out new songs or at least more b-sides, Trompe songs or Bossanova songs.

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like roadtrip material for sure. As I guess many of us will, I'll be monitoring the TicketsWest.com site for tickets. Nothing so far, but this page seems to be where they'll appear. http://www.ticketswest.com/TW/search/EventsByCity.asp?City=portland&State=OR
About three quarters of the way down, you'll find Roseland concerts with listings for other shows already slated for the Roseland Theater. |

floop - I think I'll have taken this puppy down a notch or two by then. Meant to do it last March, and I know it's gonna get too hot this summer. But if I make it to Portland we'll have to meet for sure. |

So, we've got four shows on two nights. What's the thinking here on which shows to see? Though I think I could see all four, that would probably be too much for me, so I'm leaning toward catching the late show each night. Any opinions? I must admit it is tempting to see them all on the assumption that each night's setlists would overlap to make a killer night. And I hate to think I'd miss the special by having omitted the early shows. Nice problem to have I guess. |

in my experience, whenever there's a group of shows like this, the final one is always the best.
i'd love to come up, but i'm not sure what my work schedule is going to be like in 2 months.. i may have to get tickets though and just gamble it. a weekend in Portland would be fun.
if i do, i'll probably try for the Friday show, even though May 26th is my birthday, which could be fun too. in fact, that's what i'm asking for my birthday.. will you guys, as a forum, send me enough money to fly up there?

Hehe floop... it would be a super cool way to celebrate your birthday!
I looked into flights and from here... they're kinda steep. Must be due in part due to Mem day weekend.
What I think I am going to do is get tix for both shows on Fri... and see if I can get a good last min flight one one of the travel websites. I figure if it doesn't happen, I can always sell the tix at the last minute. |

do we have any idea when tickets go on sale? i was talking to someone who said that Roseland is supposed to have great sound. a lot of bands record their "live" shows there for that reason

The Roseland Theater doesn't seem to have its own site, though there is a DoubleTree site that posts event info for it. Here's the link http://www.doubletee.com/rose_schedule.shtml The Pixies are listed, but without a "buy tickets" gif. The list of acts that have played there in the past is quite extensive.
I've been visiting the TicketsWest site daily, as I guess many of us are. Reserved a hotel room yesterday and arranged to have time off. Sure hope it happens. |

The roseland will be a cool place to see them just because of its size- I dont know the capacity exactly, but it wont be sasquatch, or bumbershoot environment. the 27th is my birthday, and im holding in my excitement once again until the tickets are in my hand.
The roseland staff is exceptionally rude, so hide your cameras and have your nuts ready for a squeezy. Oh and be ready to leave/be practically booted out the door the very second the show is over. the sound when i've beem there has been decent, not amazing, but the pixies will make it sound great no matter. They also like to blind you with the highbeams there.-but hey- its all ages!! imagine that!

Yep, B-sides and rarities... Will they do the same for the european festivals? I hope so, because they will only play at festivals. |

Four shows in two days? That's insane!
That's a lot of screaming for one throat...
I got a broken voice, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, ooh-hooo...
I'm bored with the valleys and bored by the peaks. So I bought a ticket to the Pixies |

Oh my God! I am going to be camping at my computer tomorrow to get tickets. I live in the PDX area and will be damned if I don't see them! I am shooting for the B-sides and rarities. I actually like the Roseland and have never had a problem there...although...buffalo burger is right....they will boot you out the minute the concert is over.

Bad news for the Portland shows... I dont think they are actually going to be B-sides & rarities followed by classics... i think all four shows are going to be variations of the same show."
----- Also, are the shows gonna be recorded by disclive ? |

Oh...I hope that isn't true. Although it won't keep me from going. I just checked ticketwest and it still lists the early shows as b-sides.
(off topic)...Holiday son...I sent you an email this morning. |
