You must be right Bren, there are even a number of references to bumble bees on that site: (From JAINWORLD) The term used for begging in Jainism is madhukari-eating by the bumble bee. Just as a bee takes juice from different flowers without discrimination and without hurting them, similarly the Jain monk takes food from different households in small quantities and without discrimination between rich or poor household or the quality of food offered.
and also: There are in all five senses of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing and therefore the mobile or many-sensed souls are classified accordingly into four classes, viz., chatur-indriya jivas, i.e., those souls which have first four senses of touch, taste, smell and sight, for example, bumble bee, etc., and

Just reading about the St. Francis Dam disaster and stumbled upon information that explains another song. Here it is.
The failure of the St. Francis Dam, and the resulting loss of over 500 lives in the path of a roaring wall of water, was a scandal that resulted in the almost complete destruction of the reputation of its builder, William Mulholland.
Mulholland was an immigrant from Ireland who rose up through the ranks of the city's water department to the position of chief engineer. It was he who proposed, designed, and supervised the construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, which brought water from the Owens Valley to the city. The St. Francis Dam, built in 1926, was 180 feet high and 600 feet long; it was located near Saugus in the San Francisquito Canyon.
Maybe everyone already knew this. I did not. Anyways, Cheers.

Yep, ain't that cool?
Another clue to "Jane" perhaps being about Jain: "I hear the phone line and I hope it isn't you" always made me think it was about some kind of religious solicitation. (I certainly feel that way about the local Jehovah's witnesses.) |

I think 'All My Ghosts' is about evidence of alien visitations through history. From ancient rock paintings depicting strange figures wearing what look like space helmets to the huge heads on Easter Island, that famous Mayian crystal skull to the idea of the star of Bethlahem being a UFO, the list is endless. "But who needs that now?" |

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure about any particular insight on my part, but I certainly am long-winded. Perhaps that counts for something...
I need to review and collect my thoughts on Billy Radcliffe. It has always struck me as being very Vonnegut (could that be an adjective?), but that's just a foggy notion.
Jonny was dropped/left American Recordings ages ago and when last I spoke with him (which was about 18 months back) he was in the midst of working up a new album's worth of original material which he intended to record himself as with the debut LP. He still had a few copies of a limited-edition indie 45 he put out that had one original on the A-side and a Nirvana cover (!) on the flip, but I never got around to picking one up.
I got the impression he'd had some sort of a falling out with Frank or Ken Goes, but that may be incorrect.
I should note that the final mix on his album was spectacular, considering that he tracked it himself in his mom's living room on an 8-track ADAT. Until he told me that, I assumed it was an analog recording.
Despite countless hours in the recording studio, I'm not much of a tech-head, but for those who are and who dig that album, Bud O'Brien took Jonny's ADAT tapes and ran each of them through his Neve's to warm them up considerably. Then he compressed the SHIT out of them (especially the drum tracks). The final result to my ears, was a great example of vintage crunch-rock that remains one of my favorite albums where one guy plays all the instruments.
I've always been dying to hear the original, aborted version of that record that was produced by Frank. I don't know if it ever got beyond the demo stage, but I do know that several songs (if not the entire record) were tracked. Someone should root around and try to find a rough mix cassette or something of that nature, if any exist.
And by the way - I have always assumed that the "Mr. Pol" that is credited with the amateurish design and layout of the USA release of the Black Sessions concert (the one with the bonus Kitchen Tapes tracks) was in fact Jonny Polonsky, but I forgot to ask him.
Does anyone know the answer?

Bazza; meant to comment about Fazer Eyes which I think is about his wife and her ability to see the "real" him. Like he says in the song "and you won't be frightened of the real thing after the show". That has always been my perspective anyway. |

Here is what I have compiled...I just have a line or so next to the one's I know, If you'd like an explaination of what I have put I'd be happy to elaborate. Some of the little lines next to titles are from Frank's press releases...I have collected these ideas from all over some of them maybe from you! So thx. I think a song DB would rock. If you'd like to correct anything just post it. If you'd like I can put what we deem to be correct in this post to have a central place to look for the time being..I think I left Oddballs and some of the newer songs out, I'll add'em later. Thank you in advance for the participation! This is what is truely fun about Frank. To figure out what (if anything) he is saying in a song. What did he find cool or interesting enought to write a song about it.
Los Angeles- About other places names Los Angeles in the Americas (North Central and south) I heard Ramona sing- Listening to the Ramones when he was a kid. Parry the Wind - A UFo convention in Roswell, New Mexico he and Eric Feldmen went to. Adda Lee- This one is about someone he was very close to that passed. Everytime I go Around here - Don't ya Rile Him-
WhatEver happened to Pong - The Game Pong(He actually used to play for money) Thalassocracy - the government of a nation having dominion over large expanses of the seas is the definition of the word. Frank seems to be talking about some kind of class struggle though or difference in politics. The inuit man had not so much a Caesar He had Provision. I almost at time feel like he's poking fun at a critics and using this as some kind of metaphor though. Abstract Plain- Math Calistan - The Aquaducts of LA and the growth of LA The Vanishing Spies - SUBJECT: "I almost saw the lost Mars probe of '93, and became lonely when I feared there was only sky." - Frank in the press kit for the album Speedy Marie-The last 14 lines of the song spell "JEAN MARIE WALSH" an Acrostic. So I suppose it is his WIFE! Jean Black Headache -. It deals with cosmological history and scientific stuff like that. Sir Rockaby- Gene Chandler, Otis Blackwell, and Del Shannon Freedom Rock - Classic Rock Two Reelers - The 3 Stooges Fiddle Riddle -the "face" on which man stands is that of the earth, but he abuses his gift and winds up extinct. But the machines he created live on and live equally futile lives... Ole Mullholland - Mullholand built the Dams and Aquaducts in Southern Cali. Fazer Eyes - TV 14 - I Could Stay Here Forever- 15 - Hostess with the Mostess - Going to the Mall as teens. The 80's 90's Mall Craze. Del Amo Mall in So Cal more specifically. 16 - Superabound-The first part is about a Freak Show. The old Carni Freak shows. He mentions PT Barnum also. And how nothing is satisfing or surprising anymore to us anymore... 17 - Big Red - Terra Forming Mars 18 - Space Is Gonna Do Me Good - Future 19 - White Noise MakerThough a White noise maker is to drown out sounds so one can sleep better...he's wanting to drown out all the sounds this planet emitts...he talks about the Telstar satellite, and the radio etc... 20 - Pure Denizen of the Citizens Band - Truckers using the Citizens Band (CB) 21 - Pie in the Sky - The sun...light...expansion of the universe, and take some time to think about it. 22 - Bad, Wicked World - - The Invaders (TV SHOW, possibly British about Aliens and UFOs) 01 - Marsist - The Geological feature on Mars that looks like a face 02 - Men in Black - The Gmen that would supposedly stop by after you were "visited" 03 - Punk Rock City - This is a song about generic(music) engineering. Classic rock topic." 04 - You Ain't Me - "pop culture and my frustration with it" - Frank 05 - Jesus Was Right - lonely youth 06 - I Don't Want to Hurt You (Every Single Time) - "a song I hope everyone can relate to" - Frank 07 - Mosh, Don't Pass the Guy -"an instrumental you can kick my teeth to" - Frank 08 - Kicked in the Taco 1, 2 - "universal violence" - Frank 09 - Creature Crawling -"monsters" - Frank 10 - Adventure and the Resolution - The Adventure and the Resolution were the names of James Cook's ships 11 - Dance War - "the pit" - Frank 12 - Cult of Ray - Ray Bradbury 13 - Last Stand of Shazeb Andleeb -Sndleeb was a student murdered at Narbonne High School, which Frank used to attend. 01 - All My Ghosts 02 - Back to Rome 03 - Do You Feel Bad About It? 04 - Dog Gone - Something about this song coming from how he fantasises about a meteor crashing to Earth, because his girlfriend says that's the only thing that'll separate her from her dog. 05 - I Gotta Move (ver 2) - Has to do with the Movie EraserHead by Lynch 06 - I Need Peace -Not sure. Paranoia? Insomnia? Nervous breakdowns? 07 - King and Queen of Siam 08 - Six-Sixty-Six - old song covered. The Devil. 09 - Solid Gold - Solid Gold is about the 405 freeway, driving in traffic 10 - Steak 'N' Sabre -Steak 'n' Sabre is supposedly One of the restaurants Frank fantasizes about opening someday. 11 - Suffering-A song written for a friend of Frank's who was badly hurt in a car accident. 12 - Man Who Was Too Loud - about Jonathan Richman 01 - Bad Harmony 02 - I Switched You - 03 - Western Star 04 - Tiny Heart 05 - You're Such a Wire 06 - I Love Your Brain 07 - Smoke Up 08 - Billy Radcliffe (ver2) 09 - So Hard to Make Things Out - A clue for me in this song is Hyperion. Hyperion is a Greek Titan, or one of Saturn's Planets... 10 - 85 Weeks - Captain BeefHeart 11 - I Think I'm Starting to Lose It 12 - I Want Rock & Roll-Frank digs that classic Rock 'N' Roll. In this song he gives some props to some old-school rockers. 13 - Skeleton Man- He spent a summer as an archaeology student 14 - So. Each gun was loaded with one bullet. LOL 11 - Southbound Bevy - 12 - I Will Run After You - seems to just be a song... 13 - True Blue - 14 - Jane the Queen of Love - Great Song I think some others have tied together this could be a combonation between talking about his wife, and ideas from the JAINWORLD web site Frank has posted in his profile. 15 - Jet Black River - 16 - 21 Reasons - the 21 Missions set up by the Spanish in California 17 - Whispering Weeds

creature crawling- nice fuckin list!! very impressive.
i'll try to put in my two cents.
if it hasn't already been mentioned.
i noticed that in frank's songs that allude to someone that has died, frank often uses the word "sun" in the song.
THE LAST STAND OF SHAZEB ANDLEEB: Light brighter than the sun / Did you almost feel the pain ? / It will never be the same / I GOTTA MOVE (great tune!!): and then he stopped to say / before he went down / this is the worst place in the sun BULLET: you take the moon i'll take the sun AT THE END OF THE WORLD: I said pretty please / Candy you can’t go / The sun came up

I may be way off here but could TheScene be about him being mad at someone for talking and being obnoxious during his favorite scene in a movie. There are really only like 3 parts in the song that make me think that and they're pretty straight-forward: "Talking way too loud but there's nothing to exchange" "You're oblivious to me" -like he's trying to ignore the person and doesn't want to listen to what he says "Now you're talking in the dark through my favorite scene" - In the dark like in the theatre And then he has no connections because no one likes him because he won't stop talking.
Just a thought - probably wrong |

I think so too, NimrodsSon, and all I really have to add is that it sounds to me like it's about having to sit in the same theatre as some obnoxious celebrity. ("As you climb out of the top of some truck limousine/still filming your scene") |

The fact that the antagonist "has no connection" could also be a reference to jackasses who insist on using CELL PHONES inside theatres and cinemas, subjecting everyone to their obnoxious braying. They often can't even get a usable signal indoors, and keep repeating themselves ad nauseum.

I'm new here... so if these interpretations have been brought up, pardon moi. Thalassocracy - I believe this to be a song about dolphins (trained ones in particular, whom will make their heads go "bop" with the wave of a trainer's wand, or make their fins slap the water... chop, chop, chop, chop. Frank also sings the word "sing" (as in "sing for you") as if he were a dolphin. Fazer Eyes - alien abduction!! The end is where he's gettin' beamed up... starting to relax or go unconscious before the all their fun experiments. The Vanishing Spies - I like the remote viewing explanations, but I think it's still a little lacking as a complete explanation. I always thought of this song as being about either the "Devil's Triangle" or the "Dragon's Triangle" in which ships and planes disappear. Where are all of these missing ships and planes? "Could be they broke, and swam like a bird... spooking the folk, with talk of the third, or maybe the third played a joke". The three conotation in this makes me think he's quite insistant on the theme being closely related to something with 3 sides. How would third fit into a remote viewing explanation? Third person tense? *I have several others I'll be sharing my thoughts on, but I find these 3 to be the most interesting in terms of crypticism on Teenager. **Anybody else agree/disagree? Whattdaya think? |

The Vanishing Spies. Just something I read. Well not really, but if you want to know what the song is about, read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. That expains most of it.

I believe that elements of the song
all my ghosts
refer to the race of supermen who once visited the ancient people. these were the aliens who had nordic human characteristics and were very tall...interbredding with the indiginous peoples and giving life to the half breed race.in some cases extending life spans and granting mild telpathic powers.
yeah I know its out there but parts of the song made me think of this.
...with whom they mated....and their young...became giants every one.....who needs that now? |

Actually there is The book of Enoch. It's Biblical. That part of the song is about just as it says. There were Angels that were jealous of man. These fallen angels came to earth and mated with human women. The result was the Nelphins. They were the giants.... |

Anyone know if there's a link between The Swimmer and the Cheever story by the same name? They do seem related in a lot of ways, but it's probably a bit more obvious than Frank's style to name a song the same thing as the work it is inspired by. |

I'm not sure if I understand your query, but the song Angst was inspired by an old punk band called Angst off SST records. They are now OOP though.

Yeah, I remember them, they sucked, but ol' Frank seems to be singing specifically about someone he "stole licks from" in "86"
kind of like the man who was too loud opening a show for "the king of surf guitar", who of course is Mr. Dale. |

I disagree, I think "I switched you" is about him getting dumped, and then when the girl who dumped him comes back he's got a new girl "You'll soon find out that you miss my loving ways, but don't you know I switched you" a great song for the recently dumped |
