I used to be an 8-hour-a-night person then last month this crazed energy started, buzz buzz buzz, and insomnia and the only thing there is to do in my half-horse town is run, so I run and that makes me even less likely to sleep or stop the hummingbird routine.
WTF?

I scarily think I know what you mean - I'm not needing as much sleep as I used to, maybe it's just getting older but I can't believe how little I've slept in this past week. It's what I call "the restlessness" and it's back again. |

I usually sleep a lot, but as of late, I've occasionally had trouble with it. It's too hot, or something.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

But are you insanely energetic? Despite the lack of sleep buzzing with energy? It's nuts.

Not insanely no. That is kind of nuts - are you worried, like I am, that you're just going to crash and do some major hibernating all in one chunk? |

Hiber-what? See, I don't even remember anymore. I have a theory that my freaky energy level may have to do with my not being able to swim because it began when my pool shut for the summer (major freakout on my part! ask Wilhelm, I was emailing him daily in May freaking the fuck out...two more days till they drain my pool...boo hoo!). Maybe I should stop running 6 miles a day and get nice and soft
and sleeeeeeepy oh so sleepy.

Oh, Surfer. Nobody knows the troubles I've seen. Not just any pool. A majestic Olympic-sized pool, where everybody is a friend and witty and quick with a kind word and fabulous music is played and 30-foot-windows afford views of towering mountains. A luxe locker room. Several suitdriers. Sigh. Some of the fancy tilework at the bottom of this magnigicent beast got loose. They're talking late August for the opening, but I think prolly September.
I have wept over this.

kathryn, if such a pool existed in my neighborhood i would practically live there. i LOVE to swim, but i hate the typical gym inhabitants here. all macho assholes. maybe moving to VT wouldn't be a terrible idea...

It's my home away from home. I forgot to add that they don't do chlorine, they do the other kinder chemical mix.
Plenty of room up here, for you, Brian.

i don't know if i'd call myself an enthusiast, BUT i love to swim and what precludes me from doing it in a gym here are 2 things: 1: the aforementioned asshole factor and 2: the chlorene smell that i can never get out of my nose that makes me feel like i have a sore throat. oh lordy that drives me nuts. your pool sounds like utopia - is it expensive to join?

Actually, I am baking a blueberry and peach pie. Organic blueberries that I picked myself. A little Ben & Jerry's and it'll be delish.
I can't think of anything at all that sounds better than that. Good grief, good for you. MMMMMMMM
just sort of random thoughts about that 'hummingbird' routine...from what I've seen/done/learned smoking cigaretes.thyroid.anxiety. medication.depression.caffeine.in transitional/change period. getting enough B vitamins/potassium/calcium. tiring, that state is. |

I was driving home from my friend's house tonight and there was a beautiful pure black DSH cat laying curled up dead in the middle of the road. The road was covered in blood and the cat was at least an hour dead. It was very dark with no street light amd It was kind of a side road or less travelled road but not really. It was too late to knock on doors but I called and reported it to the police. Makes me very sad thinking of my own very lucky cat. Kinda like a boxer who dies in the ring.
... It was like the First time I ever tried Cheetos. |

Very sweet.
No cop is going to handle a dead cat, though.
Sanitation or animal control.
-
I once saw an animal control officer collect the carcass of some poor kitty. He just put on a rubber glove, scooped it up and into a black bag, tossed the bag into the back of his truck and whistled off down the road.
Wretched, but kinda cool. I mean, he had style.
Take a bite of the chocolate coffin. |

There's part 1 of a 3 part series on Cruise and Scientology in Salon. You have to watch a short commercial to read the story if you're not a Salon member. Supposedly Cruise has now reached OT-VII (a high rank in the church) and that might explain why he's become so outspoken.
http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2005/06/27/cruise/
" The central creation story, according to Melton, Bartchy, Kent and the former member, is this: About 75 million years ago, a nefarious intergalactic warlord called Xenu rounded up the inhabitants of numerous planets, killed them, and brought them to Earth, then set off a chain reaction of cataclysmic volcanoes (the volcano pictured on the "Dianetics" cover was Hubbard's favorite symbol for the notion of breakthrough and self-actualization), which dispersed their thetans into the atmosphere. These thetans now fester inside the bodies of all humans. They are to be located in specific body parts and summoned out." |
