I once saw an animal control officer collect the carcass of some poor kitty. He just put on a rubber glove, scooped it up and into a black bag, tossed the bag into the back of his truck and whistled off down the road.

This town is too small for animal control at night, it's the same thing as police. There's like 2 cops on duty at night, and 1 sheriff.
I drove down that road again the next evening and the cat had been run over probably 100 times. It was unrecognizeable. Just 2 tufts of black hair covering the pink and red smushed guts..
I guess I should have put it in the ditch at least.

On a bright note I was leaving work today (way out in the middle of the woods on a gravel road) and a baby deer and it mother stopped in the middle of the road and looked at me for awhile. The baby was so fuckin cute and the mother was huge and powerful and equally beautiful. I see at least 3 deer at work every day.

students again infecting my cells and being so slap dash in the fucking lab that my nice sterile eppendorfs containing cannabinoids and cytokines are covered in thick sticky disgusting non sterile sucrose solutions
going to cry at the technical staff
then discovering yesterday the labs had to be evacuated because of a nasty HCL spillage which no one thought to report until the fumes were noticed, which made everyone ill
students = bunch of dirty bastards
I might as well add, this is the middle of the fourth week in an eight week allowed lab session, everything I have done up until this point has been lost.

Right at the end of one of my final year projects, I lost almost all the audio I'd been working with (entirely due to the computer system at the college), and therefore got a failing mark for that module. In my major recording project, I found somebody's jazz on my track. Random jazz. Leaked from someone else's work, plain bizarre.
Anyway, I feel your pain.

Yep - BA Recording Arts technically, basically sound engineering. Twas good fun, but I haven't used it at all since! I need to get myself sorted with a bit of kit now I have a half decent computer, but it's one of these things I never get round to doing.

I do feel a little guilt at that one you're referring to, although I was right  . But this one's not your fault, so you have my fullest sympathy.
Mike - I dunno, I don't think I'd want to do it as a career. It's all kind of stressful, and you have to start right at the bottom no matter what qualifications you have. Plus, I just don't think (given my albeit limited experience) that I'd want to work in the music industry. It's kind of a cool thing to know about though.
How's that for a slice of fried gold? |
