that i busted a gut last semester for nothing
that i'm going to have to lose internet access at home soon
that i'm pretty much going to have to work full time as well as study
that i don't know where i'm going to find the time to do both

That I knew a horribly obese man who did the mail-order bride
thing (Russian, hot) and it was like watching a car crash in
slo-mo -- as soon as the paperwork was done and she got
US citizenship, she left town.

I am too intimidated to even open the Quantum Physics thread.
This morning, I saw two people I can't stand hugging. It made
me hate them more. I came home and told my husband

Right now I'm mostly regretting posting that I don't have sympathy for Tre. Here's the deal: I work in a university, and if I had a penny for every scam, cheat or 'special case' I'd be a rich man, and this has made me pretty cynical.
"Can't you make an exception in my case?"
"No"
But, obviously, I don't know the ins and outs of this case and therefore its pretty harsh of me to judge. If it was genuinely unfair, then of course you have every right to be upset, and also every right to take it to a higher level and make a formal complaint.
In fact, my old boss is now head of Academic Administration at Tre's uni, so take it up with her!
Other than that, I'm not hungry which is pretty unusual.

i failed a class in college becasue my professor had this "no papers accepted 13 minutes after class starts" (seriously, it was 13 minutes), and, i was late getting there on the final day, to turn in my final paper. and the whole class was based on 3 papers. so i was fucked and had to take summer school.
there were a lot of things i thought about doing, but didn't do, to that professor

fair enough. i can respect that opinion.. but, i still think it's excessive to fail and hold a student back because his paper is 20 minutes late. shit happens.. she could have listened to my case .
she wasn't even a good professor anyway (all she did was talk about herself) and i wrote her favorite sonnet (we all had to write a sonnet), yet, she still insisted on being a stubborn bitch

It's tedious to have to play the same part of a video game over and over again.
Oh, and I'm not really a fan of arbitrary rules for turning in papers or what-have-you either. But then, I think doing the work and learning the subject are more important than adhering to every single rule. I think a lot of people would disagree with me, even if they wouldn't admit it.

Cheesey, how can you not have sympathy for Tre? As you say you do not know the ins and outs of her situation. She neither scammed nor cheated (I'm not saying you ever said she did) and as a former college professor, I believe that she's gettting a raw deal.
I never had arbitrary 13-minute rules. But I would have made them up just to flunk floop. Or maybe I would have made him
write a paper on Jeff Tweedy's formative years.
