Who is David Vincent mentioned in the song? I gather he is a reporter.

I think he's the architect protagonist from 'The Invaders' - the '60s science fiction series featuring aliens with stiff little fingers.

Brilliant song.
Yep, it's based around 'the Invaders'. The aliens were "dressed to deceive" by adopting the guise of human beings, albeit with crooked little fingers. Vincent found himself pursued by law enforcement and the aliens themselves. |

I wish they would release The Invaders on DVD. It appeared on video for a short time in the early nineties, and then vanished. It only lasted one season, and was remade (quite boringly) in the mid-nineties with Scott Bakula (if I remember correctly). But the original is quite a spooky show, with a credits theme that'll make the hairs on your neck stand up. I'm trying to remember the actor who played David Vincent...he was also in a cool movie called Journey to the Far Side of the Sun written and produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson...the folks responsible for Thunderbirds are Go!, Space: 1999, UFO, and other cheesey and campy, yet dangerously cool Brit-TV of the 60's-70's. Roy Thinnes was the actor. Try to find it if you can!

I remember when I figured out the Invaders connection. It was years ago and I had just gotten home from work at about 2 a.m on a Sunday. I flipped on the TV and The Invaders was just starting. I had never even heard of it before. The intro of the show begins, "A man too long without sleep, architect David Vincent... ". I flipped.

Transmarine, I was looking for a DVDs of the series too - the best i found was a person selling the complete series for $90 (http://dvd-complete.ioffer.com/i/B7BH1M0EJY9Y03ba82) and whilst that seems expensive it's a whole lot cheaper than the 15 DVD set (3 or 4 episodes on each DVD going for £200)
There's quite an interesting fansite that can be found here: http://www.theinvaders.co.uk/
BTW David Thinnes played David Vincent.

I love Gerry Anderson's work.
His new version of 'Captain Scarlet', all CGI, begins in the UK this week. |

I adore how so many years later there are still layers and layers of meaning and intelligence and discovery to Frank's work.
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank |
