The 'Songs in the Key of X' version is mixed better, in my opinion, than on ODDBALLS. ODDBALLS cranks up the guitar distortion from the beginning, and it's a bit in the way. On 'Songs in the Key of X', the mix is much more subtle, and seems to build from it's melancholy into it's sublime peak almost in a Roy Orbison 'Running Scared' sort of way.

I don't think Oddballs was mastered very well. I realize it's a mix of material from all over, but IMO the album sounds rather dull when compared with the original releases I have.

Truth be known, I like the x-files album, on the whole. I went through a huge x-files phase and got everything related to the show...

oh, and be sure to remember that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds remind you that zero is a number. (that's a hint to look somewhere for something)

:)

I was surprised by how much I liked some of the songs on
that soundtrack. Not as much as Oddballs, but still, some good
tunes there.

Buy both.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank
