And Vovat - apologies in advance, after listening to yours yesterday (which had some fabulous tracks on btw - middle ones are my faves, but I'll do a proper review later) I'll be amazed if there is more than one track off mine that you like.

Well, let me be the judge of that.

I do get the idea that I like my music more upbeat and not as "hard" as a lot of the people here.

I'll be most intrigued to hear your verdict regardless of whether you like it or not, that's why I've enjoyed these mixes so much so far. Sometimes you don't find a new favourite band or whatever, but you'll be reminded of a band you used to love or even just be forced to tune your ear to another kind of sound for a while.

You want it all but you can't have it.

Better not be an America Online 20,000 free hours cd, or we may hear about a Canadian postal incident.

I'm going to have to listen again. Have to admit I keep getting stuck on the Suicidal Tendencies tracks and thinking impure thoughts.

Les Savy Fav are gettin loads of play too. Thanks for all those. Not allowed to play Three Inches of Blood at work - but it's a great one for listening to on my walk to work - no one can fuck with me by the time I get in.

Just got Brian's mix today. Had a rare day off during week, and that was a cool surprise. I'm liking it upon 1st listen. I'm a big fan of Wilco, Malkmus (great song), Sufjan (that song is my son's favorite song), Wrens, and Calexico(saw them open for Wilco). I'll comment on the rest as I learn them.

Listening to Toby's first one now. Very good, I am impressed again. I especially like the Viva Voce, Metric, Dressy Bessy & Detroit Cobra tracks. I like the little snippets from TV shows etc, especially the Bananaman one, that made me laugh. I used tolike that cartoon as a child.

VIVA VOCE! Wow, watched 3 opening acts (a local guy n gal, The Czars, Delorean) and then came VV.

TOTALLY KICKED ALL THE ASS. If you can go see 'em, DO it!! you will thank me...they put on an awesome show.

before the gig, they were selling their own stuff and I was able to sit and chat with them about kexp (a freakin' amazing radio station) and, since i was wearin' my newly minted flying-P shirt, Kevin asked me if i got the chance to see the Pixies during their tours. When I mentioned frankblack.net ("a place I hang out in sometimes"), he seemed excited: "Wow! frank black...allright!"

anyway, if they head close to you, go see them...http://www.vivavoce.com/tour.html

I'm soooo jealous - Viva Voce is my standout favourite off your mix - catches me everytime. Always good to hear when someone puts on a good show - will most definitely be looking out for them - totally missed out on their UK dates this year but maybe I'll be lucky and they'll be back for more.

Tell ya what, Ms. Rosa...if you dig that tune ("Alive w/ pleasure" right??), you really really really should go to iTunes UK and download (or at least listen to) "Lesson No. 1"...that's the first V.V. tune I heard and fell for. It's a short song and I usually listen to it 3x in a row...go give 'er a try...

:)

oh and for you UKers, Kevin mentioned that their Euro. tour went well except for the fact that "they eat baked beans for breakfast."

(but we all know a good fry-up has to have baked beans!)

I just got ObfuscateByWill's CD today. I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but I like the cover art, and I have to say that "Do The Mussolini" is a really cool song title.

I'm hoping mine arrives with all of you before Easter. I've not done any artwork for it - been too busy & too crap to get it sorted in time. I'll gladly email a pdf to anyone that wants one of the cover artwork when it's done. I just figured getting the discs to you all was more important than how it looks. I've thrown in my first mix for those of you who haven't been in the last two, since I feel it was better than my 2nd mix.
Shine you get my 2nd mix, since you already have my first.

I got ObfuscatebyWills yesterday. Can't wait to listen to it today as I run around town. I guess I have everything except a couple of the Brits' cds. What about you guys on the other side? Have you gotten all the North American-sent cds?

Futureheads tonight. I'll be thinking about you Mike (and I'll see if I can put in a good word about you managing 'em). ;)

I think I've got all the North American ones - so confused between this and the genre swap though, so I could be talking absolute nonsense.
