Carolynanna, I'm so sorry to hear your husband isn't feeling well! Did the doctor say specifically that it was an ulcer? The word "rip" makes me think of hernias, and I didn't know they operated on ulcers anymore unless they were bleeding excessively. Antibiotics and precautionary measures are usually enough to help the stomach heal on its own. The prescription was probably for something like protonics, we give those to just about everyone on PO medication to protect their stomach lining. Hopefully they also gave you a modified diet plan. Does the pain lessen after he's eaten a large meal?
RE: aspirin. If he takes aspirin daily for his heart he doesn't have to stop. I would switch over to something called enteric coated aspirin. The pills are coated with a special substance that will only dissolve once it passes through the stomach and reaches the intestines. The dosage is slightly lower, I think, but it won't irritate his stomach at all.
You'll probably know all you need to know after the endoscopy next week. Until then, I'd stick to a semi-bland diet, no soda, no alcohol, no chewing broken glass. Good luck, and feel free to email me if you want to.

I am about to leave the office and I sharpened a few pencils for the workshop tomorrow. I then proceed to jam a freshly sharpened pencil into the palm of my hand (by complete accident of course!). I think I tickled the nerve. Not the greatest feeling. Will I have a lead mark like the one my brother gave me on my thigh? That happened when I was a wee tot!

I have a black mark in the middle of my hand from 7th grade when someone bumped into me and I ended up with a pencil impaled in my palm. My homecoming date in 12th grade had almost the same exact mark, but yet it wasn't a sign.
My day has been good so far. |

Well, if you have another homecoming and want to try and seek another soulmate with a lead mark in the palm of their hand you can keep my name on the shortlist. I think this scar will be with me for a while! Although I am sure that our encounter will lead to nothing as well.
