Cheesy you cheeky scamp!
And yes I cannot tell a lie, but my porn clients are far more decisive than the regular ones.
It's all "bum or boobs shot" as oppossed to the infinite amount of changes the others seem to want to make.
Give me porn over press ads any day.

The worst part of my day was the tummy-agony during my exam which meant I managed two out of the three essays in an excellent manner and one was a bit of a crock of shit.
Only made better by the paracetamol/ibuprofen/gin and tonic combination afterwards.
(top hint for the ladies, quinine in the tonic part of gin and tonic is a marvel for menstrual pains. Two ibuprofen and a gin and tonic and wahey!)

honestly no idea. I know one essay was seriously impressive discuss the role of DNA MethylTransferases in Gene regulation because I had specific quotes and references in it and everything. I wrote a really good essay I'm most pleased.
The second essay I covered all the main points but without specific references Describve the approach you could adopt for finding a known point mutation compared to screening an entire gene for an unknown mutation. Discuss the techniques involved with their respective advantages and disadvantages it flowed well and concluded nicely so I'm happy with it.
The third essay I was hurting and tired and running out of time Discuss how elements of E coli Lac operon have been utilised in cloning vectors I wrote half the essay looked at the clock and realised there was no time to finish it so I put in a relevent overall diagram, bullet pointed the main points and concluded it at the end. Bad form really but I figured it was better than nowt.
my fingers are crossed.

I hope so too. I had thought a polymorphisms question would come up so I had revised that one thoroughly with references and everything but I got mutations instead, only one of the techniques really transfers over to mutations and I forgot the microarray reference which was frustrating. And the third essay I just have no hopes for what so ever. The way I see it I have six more modules and a research project to kick arse on so one slightly shitty essay which is, what, 20% of one module is no big deal. Almost.

Well I just spent all night sans sleep in the hospital emergency waiting romm with my husband. We're pretty sure he has appendicitis (sp?). Just had to stop at home to get cleaned up, get kids to school and head on back to see the test results. I know its his appendix but I'm still a little nervous for the results. So if its something that can be fixed like his appendix I will post in the highlight thread. Give some good vibes this way folks to ensure he's okay.
And at least there was entertainment as we waited. A chick flipping out over the long wait, breaking computers and getting arrested. A drunk who just got released and promptly fell and cracked his head.

He's gonna make it. He's got a rip in his stomach, ulcer type of thing. But big enough to warrant a stitch or two and big enough so that it was leaking stomach acid into his gut which caused all these muscle spasms and of course, immense pain.

They never told him what its from though. And that's when I got kids off to school, I'll ask when he has to go back next week. Next week he has to have a camera put down his throat to check out the rip some more before deciding what to do, ie stitches. Its weird because they haven't fixed anything and they sent us home with a prescription to lower acid and one to stop muscle spasms. But when someone says you're leaking stomach acid into your gut, you think that they'll do something right away.

A stomach ulcer is a sore or hole inside your stomach. It happens when the lining of your stomach gets damaged.
Your stomach normally contains acid, which helps break down food. If the lining of your stomach is damaged, this acid can seep through the lining and damage the cells underneath.
About 8 out of 10 stomach ulcers are caused by H. pylori.1. These bacteria live in your stomach and may damage the lining of your stomach.
Stomach ulcers can also be caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs for short), such as aspirin. These drugs can also damage the lining of your stomach. NSAIDs are commonly used to treat aches and pains, including some serious conditions, such as arthritis.
usually medication, either antibiotics to treat the bacteria or ulcer healing drugs if this is caused by the NSAIDS will reduce the ulcer and be sufficient treatment. Surgery is generally only used if the drugs don't work and I think it's nearly always endoscopic so not at all invasive.
I pulled most of this from NHS online (the uk national health service website) and my limited knowledge of ulcers from work. I'm sure everything will be just fine as ulcers are really quite common and there are lots of good effective treatments for them.
Best wishes to you and your hubby and a speedy, speedy recovery!

best of luck, love, thoughts and prayers from me to you and your family carolynanna - my dad had a series of bleeding ulcers, one of which caused him to pass out after climbing a set of stairs (lukcily he had made it off the stairs and i was there to call 911) so i know that it can be a painful, frustrating and scary process. i'm sure things will work out fine, but until then, positive vibes are flowing westward!

Hmmm I knew some of that but not the aspirin part, and he does take his fair share of aspirin.
Also though they told him its a bit different than an ulcer, how does someone get a rip I wonder, could it be an ulcer that initially caused it?
Isn't daisy a nurse or something?
PS. You guys are fantastic, much appreciated.

Is it dayanara that's a medical assistant maybe?
Caroly, best wishes again to you and your hubby. Did they suggest any temporary dietary changes or anything? Does he need to sleep on his side? I agree that the term "rip" is disconcerting, but you'd hope they would want to cover all the bases (including their own asses) is it were something very serious. Is Canada as prone to medical malpractice issues as we are? But yeah, asking specific questions certainly doesn't hurt. I hope you can get a lot of good info out of 'em when you do.
What gets me is all the info available on various medical sites, but it's only just enough to get you concerned yet still unsure.

Shoot, I've stuck my foot in it twice in one post! I didn't mean anything by that -I meant when I look up symptoms online I get concerned but there aren't any definitive answers.
And I didn't mean anything by "medical assistant" dayanara. Is "nurse" better? What's wrong with it floopy?

methinks sometimes that excessive medical knowledge has the opposite effect on the general public...can sometimes induce mild hypochondria.
Take him off that shrapnel diet, carol.
seriously, good luck. He'll probably be fine with diet changes and some meds. You might also want to advise him to "chill the hell out and lay off the habaneros." |
