Exactly.
I just watched Amores Perros. Very good. Some parts were not very nice to watch but overall I really liked it. Some excellent acting and a good script, well directed. Another excellent foreign film.
Another one tomorrow I think.

Just watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas again. Terry Gilliam really captured Thompson's accounts quite well, and both Depp and Benicio were excellent.

I just watched 'DOGVILLE' starring Nicole Kidman.
WOW. Amazing movie. Highly recommend.
Along the lines of Orwells Animal Farm. REALLY GREAT!

One of the best movies I've ever seen. Two people walking around Paris and talking for an hour and a half. Subtle, poignant, and perfect.

I just watched 'Lost In Translation' (finally). I asked my housemate what he thought of it before I watched it (he's an actor, and a big film fan) and he didn't like it, he said nothing actually happens.
Me, I loved it. I agree with him that not a lot actually happens in the film, but I was never less than engrossed all the same. I very often enjoy movies with an atmosphere, and this one had an almost tangible mood - even if you'd never been in the situation, you could sympathise with the 'completely out of place' feeling.
I also enjoyed the soundtrack (duh, Kevin Shields being a genius and all). Even 'Just Like Honey' worked, and JAMC usually give me a serious headache. Somebody tell me - the instrumental playing over the titles and the DVD menu: is this an arrangement of a Mogwai song, or am I going mad?
Finally, at risk of turning into floop: I think I'm now in love with Scarlett Johansson. Beautiful and intelligent, but not unattainably so, at least in this film. I'll trade with someone in the dating thread to get her...

Haven't seen Dogville but will have to check it out! Garden State rocks.
Just saw Sideways... ok...it had some very funny parts. and Aviator...missed the mark for Scorcese.... Leo was too young to play the role but the actress that played K. Hepburn was great. |

What is this craziness on the Frank Black boards? I just watched Garden State for the first time about fifteen minutes ago. Living about ten minutes from where the film took place, I figured I just had to see it eventually. I guess my only complaint was that the film did not live up to its hype. Every person to whom I've talked about this movie gave it rave reviews; I didn't hear a single complaint. I came in expecting a life changing film, which in no means it was. It was not a bad movie at all, just nothing different. I found the whole thing to be very typical, I guess. Zach Braff is a very talented writer and director, and I definitely look forward to his future attempts in cinema. I give Garden State a 7/10.
