Bull Durham had quality moments.
The Rookie with Dennis Quaid was a feel good Disney movie, but I enjoyed it. |

BD was good but Costner kind of bugs me.
Major League is a good one.

I watched Land Of The Dead again yesterday, I slept through most of it but there were some (unintentional?) comedy gold moments. Zombies are great. |

I was going to watch Bad Taste right now, but your negative comments about Land of the Dead makes me want to change my mind out of protest, Tre. Seriously, wtf? Twas one of last year's best movies (right behing the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie). I don't get what you didn't like about it.

The most recent movie I watched was "Polyester." I've seen better John Waters films, but there's always a kind of exaggerated humor to them that I like.

During the week, Welcome To Collinwood, music was good and it was wellpaced. Last night a BBC Arena documentary from 94 about Phil K Dick with Terry Gilliam and Elvis Costello, was interesting but they skimped on the March 74 stuff and didnīt show any of his friends talking about it, just some Aldiss fellow Iīm not sure ever met him.

HA! You'd like that wouldn't you alright, I watched it. Good stuff except for a couple of things that bugged me: - one of the guys (Ozzy's buddy) looked strangely like French singer Gerard Lenorman. Doesn't mean much to you but it's hard to keep thinking about him the whole movie. - unfortunately I saw the French dubbed version, which was apparently translated using BabelFish. The dialog was atrocious and made no sense, and all the cult quotes were lost.

I've been on an Oscar-nominated kick:
NORTH COUNTRY
Typical Hollywood 'true story' - but a really strong trio of performances from Richard Jenkins, Sean Beam and Frances McDormand
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
I expected to hate it but totally enjoyed it. Keira Knightly really gives a great performance, and it doesn't get dull. I'm becoming everything the teenage Brian would've rebelled against - i like Jane Austen movies and cut my hair.

Napoleon Dynamite - it's just a little of an overstatement to say that was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Very few funny things happened, Napoleon wasn't likable or interesting, and as I think floop said a longtime ago they just seemed to be trying too hard to be weird.
And I like dumb movies. |

You couldn't take your eyes off of Amy Adams - certainly an Oscar-winning performance. Funny, thoughtful movie all around.

Movies I've recently watched: Two Bela Lugosi movies, Dark Eyes Of London and The Invisible Ghost, both silly fun. Peeping Tom, intriguing and a bit creepy in places. Seed Of Chucky, not particularly good, but the delectable Jennifer Tilly is a good sport and really takes the piss out of herself! The Dirty Dozen, enjoyable stuff. Devil's Nightmare, a silly 70's Euro-horror. The Land That Time Forgot, cheesy dinosaur fun. Oh, and I watched The Lord Of The Rings extended edition trilogy again!

Latin Kings: A Street Gang Story. It was pretty interesting. I'll never understand the gang mentality. Maybe it's because I'm from the suburbs.

LOL, sorry Carl . So you really have been over at your friends house watching videos all this time! I watched the commentry on my Brass Eye dvd last night, it's bizzarly hilarious. Chris Morris just pays some homeless drunks and junkies to ramble on over the 'Drugs' episode.

Uh? The first 10 minutes are amazing. And the rest ain't bad either. I'll never understand why people hate this film that much.
Yesterday I watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Lasse Hallstrom directs and Leonardo DiCaprio acts in a feel-good movie about an autistic boy and his obese mother in a redneck town, and I found it ok. Sometimes I'm appalled by my own artistic tastes. The day before I listened to the new Mariah Carey album and enjoyed it.

Yesterday I finished watching Takashi Miike's "Dead Or Alive". I was quite disappointed, but it has a lot to do with the conditions in which I saw the movie (in small bits over 3 days, exhausted, and in an atrocious French version; I think they put more effort in dubbing an episode of Walker Texas Ranger than this movie. Hell, even Bad Taste was better dubbed than DOA). Plus the movie was overhyped as an ultraviolent, fast paced, gruesome flick, which it isn't. It's more like a so-so Kitano movie squeezed between a stunning opening scene and an incredible ending, both of which make the movie worth watching.
