Nirvana - I was exposed to them when I was very young by my brother but I don't really like them, that is not to say that I can't stand their music; but I just plain don't like em'. |

Buzzcocks - I thought I'd love them, given their supposed influence on the Pixies and all, plus I'm currently discovering a bunch of old punk bands that I love. I bought Love Bites and think it's OK but not great. Some songs are great (Ever Fallen In Love) but most of the times there's something that annoys me (Operator's Manual has to be one of the most unlistenable songs I've heard).
Pavement's Wowee Zowee - I love Crooked Rain and Brighten The Corners, and everyone says WZ is their best, but I didn't like it. I should give it another chance but it seems I can never find the right moment to listen to it.

I can''t be bothered continuing my list. I am not even sure I really wanted to like these bands.

It's either Pavement or Grandaddy that I don't like. I can never remember which one. I think it may be Pavement. I saw one of them at Reading Festival in 2003 and they were good. I don't like the other one much.
I also think that despite some very good moments, owning some of their albums, and in some way considering them an influence on my music, both Sonic Youth and The Velvet Underground are overrated. Not sure if that qualifies for this topic though. I guess it doesn't.

But the Cure, I don't listen much these days, but in my teenager times I loved them, and I still think that the earlier albums are great!

Newo, which GBV songs? I felt that way for a long time too (and still do to an extent). The key to GBV is knowing that Bob Pollard puts everything and anything that pops into his head on a CD, and some of it's good and some is not.

Yeah how many albums have they made exactly. I always believe in quality control in music. Artists need to be a little more restrained.

This is how many proper albums they have:
And before anyone judges Bobby P too harshly (yes, I'm a fan), remember that many people level the same crticism at FB. I don't know how many reviews I read that said that BLD and DW were too much, that BLD was too long, needed some cuts, etc. All that being said, Bob does release a LOT of stuff. But it's hard to complain about most of the GBV LPs, they're mostly brilliant, in my opinion. |

The Beach Boys - many talk about the greatness of Pet Sounds but I can't stand it. Captain Beefheart - I tried but I can't take it. |

Guided By Voices. They're not bad, but...
And probably Throwing Muses.

You are to be commended for naming names, people. It takes guts to do this.
Hold on a sec. I have to wipe the snot and tears onto my sleeve. Brian's *sob* post just threw me into another tizzy of despair. *sobs uncontrollably*

Can't think of any. The Beatles should have used it, that's for sure. For every great, timeless song they released, they released two pieces of poo.

I have to second brian: Smiths/Morrissey.
Just no.
Conversation at a party around 1994: a partygoer: "...yeah, Morrissey considers himself to be asexual." me: "But thats contrary to the human condition." another partygoer: "Hence, Morrissey." |
