this city has the best trash. tonight in the east village a small crowd had formed around this pile of stuff- drawers and dismantled lofts, a gaming tabletop, various chairs. i've seen brand new $700 sofa futons, luggage, vintage metal cabinets.
In Berlin everyone throws away their old furniture at designated times, a couple a year so with a car you can furnish an apartment in a few hours. Here in Barcelona I just rescued a great full-length mirror from the street.
