I saw a couple of vampires yesterday as I was going home from work and I said to myself: "God, I wouldn't like to be a vampire". This, I think, has to do with growing older. When I was younger, I wanted to be vampire.

What about you?

I quite appreciate Petit Vampire on TV every morning, but I never wish I was one.

I have a strange fascination with vampires. Not too strange, but still.

Funny story, actually not so funny. More like scary. I was at the little shitty pub in Mississauga and I don't know how we started talking but I ended up having a very creepy conversation with this guy who looked just like a young Tom Waits. I mean exactly like him. So anyways, we ended up at the graveyard and he started telling me about how he wanted to be a vampire. Ok that's fine, I guess. But then he brought it to my attention that there was this guy downtown Toronto who could possess you with this demon seed to really make you a vampire. At this point I began to look at my watch and realise I had to get home. He gave me a crows feather to keep me safe. Yeah...never saw him again. I wonded how his possession is going.

Who wouldn't? Vampires are mysterious, powerful, seductive, and virtually immortal. Bit pale maybe, and some say they're a tad careless about dental hygiene, but on the whole, I think it must be great to be a vampire.

Especially if you get to be Catherine Deneuve, and have sex with Susan Sarandon. Or the other way around.

I learned something disturbing a little while ago. When I was a senior in college in Murray, KY, I lived in an old Victorian house that had been broken into 4 apartments. Some strange things happened to me while I was there, including coming down with an awful illness that incapacitated me and that no one could diagnose. It eventually led to me having to leave school with a semester left before I could get my degree.

I just found out that during my last semester (when I was so sick), the members of the "Vampire Cult", that went on a killing spree in Western Kentucky about 7 or 8 years ago, were staying in the apartment right across the hall from me.

Holy fuck, Apl! That's hard-core, man! I'm sorry to hear you had to deal with something that creepy. Reading your first post about this I just about jumped out of my chair.

Monsieur, did you commission Remi to draw that piece of art there? I demand that only Remi-created art grace our posts. I might start a petition for Remi-only drawings on this board!

I wondered when someone was going to bring up Bloodletting.

I liked that album.

I didn't paint my bedroom black and wear eyeliner, but I liked the album.

Wouldn't you be MORE likely to want to be a vampire as you get older, being that they're so hard to kill and all? I mean, I would imagine that immortality would be less of a draw for a child.

It's an interesting point of view, VoVat. You are a smart guy, I bet you would be ranking in the top 5% of this forum if we were sorted by IQ.

Yet I must say that my childish desire didn't have anything to do with immortality - it had more to do with the power vampires have over women.

If immortality were the question though I think it becomes less appealing the older you do get, the more jaded you become and tired of the everyday little bullshits of life the less appealing forever of this sort of thing appears. When you're younger everything is fascinating and exciting, you wake up thinking 'oh goody what am I going to find today?' wheras at this stage of life I find myself waking up thinking 'oh crap what's going to happen today then'

Yeah, that's a fair point. I was just thinking that kids tend not to be as scared of death.

I saw them a couple years ago and they were amazing.
Especially when she explained the song Wendy, super emotional.
Its about a friend of Johnette's (Wendy obviously) who found out she had HIV and decided that instead of going through everything she was just going to kill herself. She had it all planned out. Hence "hey hey my my tomorrow Wendy's going to die" and she did it.
Her voice is spectacular live.
It was also funny because they are so sick of playing Joey (big radio hit for them) that they played a sped up version that took about 22 seconds and after she said, there are you all happy now? heehee

Anyway, the rest of Free is okay but go take a listen to God Is A Bullet, that one was sooooooooooo good back in the day.

I would rather be the half werewolf, half vampire, like the one in Underworld. To be fair that's mainly because I get to be with Kate Beckinsale.

Apl, that is so creepy. I am so glad you are ok now!!

I definately used to want to be a vampire... I loved reading those Anne Rice books. But right now, I would never want to be a vampire. I think you're right it has to do with age. Also, I really think it would be depressing to be a vampire and outlive all the people you loved.
