Rock-A My Soul
This song is pretty similar to "Levitate Me," when you get right down to it.

Nice selection FBC, like most of BLD for me, it's a little on the sad side though.
I'm gonna have to put the headphones on, some of the family are still sleeping, and take another 4-5 doses of "Snake Oil" (repeat mode), to inoculate me [.....................................................

Frank played "Southbound Bevy" at the one Catholics concert I attended, and I felt bad that it didn't get much applause afterwards (Frank even commented on this), because I think it's a really good song.

I read some stuff on the Internet about Lemuria this past weekend. Apparently the idea came from people wondering how lemurs had gotten to Madagascar, combined with the Platonic concept of Atlantis.

The Green bottle, FBC, the Green bottle,...Thanks...I ain't buying what that P.T. Barnum wanna be is selling (lies, deceit and death). Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to initiate a "Punk Rock City" right here while no one is paying attention and listenting to his bullshit! |

Now listening to: Calistan (and all the songs before and after that one on TOTY).
I've had a long period of not listening to Frank, for some reason. Not a single FB song in nearly a month, I think. And then last week I felt the uncontrollable urge to blast some fine Catholics tunes in my stereo. Since then I've been spoiling myself with the genius of Frank Black and it feels so f'in GREAT!

Sorry. I just popped in here to say I am listening to Preacher's Daughter and I am loving everything about it.

"At the End of the World"...I don't know how many times I've listened to this song and it just now hit me, this song has got to be about John Candy, the late, great comedian and actor (SCTV; Planes, Trains and Automobiles; et. al.,)http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001006/
"He came from the North On a late night comedy show...... ....... At the end of the world Down in Durango" [John passed away in Durango, Mexico, heart attack...]
And then this from The Man,..."The sun came up, Less one ray,"....not a bad epitaph, huh!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, EDF's keyboard takes this already incredible song to an even higher place.....

Alright, enough of the sad stuff...
I'm gonna test out a theory of mine...I know that according to The Man, SMYT goes better with Scotch the first play and red wine the 2nd, but I'm thinking the BROWN Album goes better with brown liquor, Segram's 7 [by default], and the extra CD from the BROWN album, you know the one with Living on Soul, Humboldt County Massacre, and Changing of the Guard, goes better with an Amber chaser....hmmmmmmm.....

you are correct wiseman! and you figured that out yourself? well done. my oddballs cd did not include the lyrics and i never made the connection to the words. but the first time i read of this candy reference i had a big .
"He came from the North On a late night comedy show" (sctv- classic!)
frank and candy are similar in that they are extremely talented, big jolly men.
and i never knew this about candy. from the biography channel:
"Sadly, however, under this loveable façade Candy was tormented by his own demons: he was anguished by his weight. He feared for his health and was never entirely happy with his appearance, but by the same token feared that his audience would no longer love him if he lost weight. Tragically, he was trapped in his big, loveable persona. This was to cost him his life. John Candy died, on 4th March 1994, from a heart attack, at the age of 43."
"I joined the Cult of Frank/ cause I'm a real go-getter!" |
