I'm listening to honeycomb, I remembered this thread because I always seem to be listening to frank when I am not on forum and can't post here. Now I can, look!

"A Dab'll Do You"
One of my favorite "new" songs from The Man, in fact all 4 songs from the SHOW ME YOUR TEARS - EP exclusive i-tunes ($3.96, which is less than the cost of a value combo meal from your favorite fast food restaurant without the heartburn and saturated fats [reminder #8] are my new favorite songs from The Man.
A dab'll do me until I get Honeycomb!

Hey Guitar Man, could you translate those 5 chords to "air-guitar" chords, you know, e.g., "dun, dun, dunn, nnn, nnn, nnn, nnn,"....or, "bbaam, dawww, bbaaaam...", etc....?
And, if that is beyond your musical abilities, I guess I could bring in some outside consultants to assist me in deciphering your five "real-guitar" chords. Either way, this promises to be a very enjoyable activity and I will submit my thoughtful and educated guess perhaps as early as tonight (depending upon whether you can translate this to "air-guitar" or, if not, then Taylor's availability to play these chords for me).

[I'm gonna need some more time Guitar Man, can't get no help, so I'm working it out by myself]
"Changing of the Guard"
Lovin the backup vocals the best! then, the cymbals, the drums, the guitars, and The Man's most excellent choice of covers!

"Living on Soul"
Lovin' it 'cause songs from the Brown Album go so well with drinks from the Brown bottle
These lyrics are hilarious:
"Heaven sent you fine, but You don`t know what to do
And ever since you want me You don`t know what to do
You elevate your mind, but Can`t stand the view
I'd elevate my mind, but I couldn`t stand you
Hallucinate my mind, but I couldn't stand you"

yeah, i'm intrigued. and what you done with hW?
Rich, the diddle iddle iddy bit is strummed pretty damn quick, it cathches me out too. i think i'm better at air drumming than the six stringless.
maybe we need to form a forum air band to play the forum song, or one of joey joe's. |

HELL YEAH, as long as I can sing backup vocals I'm in!
[Off-topic]
Hey fbc, I'll be incommunicado from my brothers and sisters here at fb.net for the next 4-5 days. Taking a vacation with the wife and kids, headed for the mountains, the "Great Smoky Mountains" this afternoon.
So, three things while I'm gone if you don't mind: 1. Don't let this thread gather dust, you may have to listen to a little extra Frank and make some extra posts to pick up my slack. 2. If The Man comes by, re-submit to him some of my questions that are found in the "King Holds Court Thread", there should be some from me there in the last couple of pages. Thanks, I'd hate to miss out entirely. 3. Rock On!

Hi all, I'm VERY new to this forum, but a huge Pixies fan and I do like Frank Black too.
Easily my favorite album of Frank Black's solo years is Teenager of the Year and I was most recently listening to Thalassocracy. I love that song!

"Announcement"...
The song gets me way overstimulated, as in making me want to bite or claw something (but in a good way, of course). When he played it live, I understood what it means to get caught up in "Beatlemania"!
Frank is my Beatles and then some!!!! =)

What selkie bride said! I couldn't agree more with your "Frank is my Beatles and then some"
And for me "Announcement" is a really good Irish Wake song, one that WILL be on my Executor's required play list many, many years from now. "The reverend he came to say There is the white And there is the house that claims him Beyond the waves of the bay Between water and light"
And I really never understood the last verse, especially on such a powerful ending for a song. "And if I'm right The urban blight Is not the problem" - Only thing I can figure out is that it's an ANNOUNCEMENT (using some of The Man's signature power vocals...[edit 6/30/05: after listening to this one for the 3rd time today:...said signature power vocals are heard as if sung into a tunnel of great distance...and that "end of the song", long, guitar solo, I sense that Lyle has been designated to express the final statement in this song... now, if I could just put my finger on it...it's coming to me, just not all of it quite yet...[end edit]] of frustration or awarness that personal loss (death of a loved one) is more of a loss than some big, social problem (urban blight?) that has less of an immediate chance of leading to a sense of loss.
Anyway, whether that's what the author had in mind or not, great song.

"Nadine"
lovin it 'cause I just found a picture of my Nadine and it goes so well with The Man's "Nadine". She once was from Bayridge, but now she claims to be from Alabama by way of Kentucky...I wish I could find my Nadine.
