I got playing Coastline through my cans as I sit here. Love the little bell rings at the beginning. For some reason this song reminds me of a little gift shop or like by the beautiful sea in a quiet town somewhere. I can imagine the bell ringing above the door as we open it and come in. I usually forget the gifts and just stare out the window down to the small cove where the sea laps the shore. Ah, nice. |

FB and DB duets on Fashion and Scary Monsters from DB's 50th b-day. Technically they're DB songs but... Frank makes 'em great. |

Lovin' it because it came right on the heels of "Dirty Old Town" from the same gig (Shuffle is on), because it's downright dirty, noisy and screamy, and because I got that gig from an esteemed forum member!
Oops, I don't type fast enough, Neutral Milk Hotel are on now! :)
"Just kill the one with the sword first." "Ah," Reagan says, raising his waxed and penciled eyebrows, and cocking his pompadour in Shaftoe's direction. "Smarrrt--you target them because they're the officers, right?" "No, fuckhead!" Shaftoe yells. "You kill 'em because they've got fucking swords! You ever had anyone running at you waving a fucking sword?" |

How about:
Today . At the New Morocco I got kicked in the taco All I saw were stars
Say! it's a bit nightmarish From here to Albondigas Parish Underneath the stars
Hey! I got kicked in the taco There's a brewing sirocco On the planet of Mars
And from me......
After you VoVat, you can finish it off. Enjoy

"Keeping in Time" from those four rare/weird/good pre-pixies demos. Finally took Honeycomb out the other day as I'm afraid I might over do it.

Patience is a virtue? Is that right?
Back to the matter at hand...Jessie DeNatale's Shangri-La West. My wife and I had the privilege to see him open for Jonathan Richman a few weeks ago, and were awfully impressed, so I picked up his first and only album (off of I-tunes) and am in love... Really good stuff.
Anyways, the "woo hoo song" is pretty good also.

Boom ChickaBoom on FBF... and I like it and am playing more than once not because it is my favorite, but it has the raw material of FB in it that exemplifies many of the things that I like about his musical personality. Strange guitar transitions, serious but quirky, relaxed but tense... high contrast, and a certain understanding of less is more. Plus how can you not like the " Booom chicka rocka chicka rocka chicka booooom....." part.

Not exactly right now, but I put on California Bound to hang out with my friends yesterday. The whole "Black Letter Days", BTW.

I got Catholics first album, but it's only coming through the one speaker.
I got drums. I got bass. I got Frank. But I got no lead guitar. Sounds nice! (not saying anything about the lead. Bet it works vice-versa too. Just put a nice twist on my listening pleasure as it's an old album now).
Have you ever listened to it like this before?
I remember Cult does it too. Was really helpful when learning to play.

I'm listening to Pan American Highway. And a live version of Gouge Away, performed at the Lowlands festival in 2001, I think.
You had me at "Los Angeles"

Not exactly a song, but i'm listening to "Conversation And Music with Frank Black" cd, which is the interview for FB first album, recorded on June 22, 1993. It's about 40 minutes long and some cool FB answers to the questions, even if the interviewer, one Kurt St. Thomas, annoys me a little (the accent. the kiss ass. the u.s perkiness. Go Team!).
Got cool acoustic versions of Czar and Old Black Dawning |

Currentlty I am listening to the Pre Pixies demos and some version of The Happening that is just BF. The riff in the beggining is awesome and you can understand the sonnet part. That's what I like about it. As for the Pre Pixies songs, it seems there is a theme in the way they were written.

Whole Lotta Love is on the radio right now.
The last Pixies/Frank that I listened to was the BBC sessions last night...Just like the 'live' feel of the songs. A bit earlier I was listening to Black Letter Days, I just love Califonia Bound.
Radio just switched to Billy Talent...
