Yeah, I hope that info is wrong. I want to hear Aint That Pretty, but any song would be better than Monkey.
Still hoping for the best.

yeah, i wish they'd play something else.

maybe they'll get some of the people from the Paul Schaffer orchestra to do the violin and cello parts though. that would be cool.

Thank God that's finally legit. After madtempest said the people in the Pixies camp had no idea what I was talking about and that nothing was scheduled I started to have nightmares that the whole thing would fall through and everyone would hate me. I'm still checking the Zevon board to see if those people have any dish, they're the ones that outed what Sandler would play.

Well, it don't look good. This is from their board admin:

quote:
I just asked the VP of Publicity here at Artemis about The Pixies performance next Tuesday. She looked at me with bewilderment. If they perform ATPAA, it will be news to us. The Sandler appearance (which is a special suprise appearance) was set up through us, but The Pixies wasn't. Not sure what they are going to perform. They have only recorded two new songs (ATPAA being one of them) since reforming last year. Guess we shall all be watching with baited breath.

Why not? All the admin said was that he wasn't sure what they're going to play, which is the same situation we're all in...

I would think that if the band was going on to promote an album, they would probably let the record company know.

monkey would be alright. but i'm hoping they play ain't that pretty at all. kick ass song, both frank and kim are screaming, plus would get some good buzz for new some new material now that the tour is winding down.

and didn't dave do some stint on the grammy's years back where he was asking everyone if they wanted to buy a monkey? so maybe dave wants to hear the monkey song.

A very reliable source I know at Worldwide Pants, Letterman's production company, tells me that the Pixies will perform the songs "The Sad Punk" and "Havalina" this evening. Can't wait!

I don't understand going on Letterman to perform songs that are at least 14 years old. The nostalgia's got to end soon.

well, let's put this whole rumors thing in perspective. Are the pixies the type of band to do something unexpected on a show like this or do they usually just stick to regular material ?

Man I hope it is aint that pretty. FB's performance is great IMO.

In a perfect world they play ATPAA and then rip into a 1-2 minute classic, the choices are endless. It would be 6-7 minutes of heaven.

I'd most like to see them do the two new songs, but, If they don't then it should only be songs from their latest studio album, TLM.

Hmm, Dave didn't hold up a CD when he announced them, which is what he usually does for the musical acts. So does that mean they're not on the show to actually promote something? I can't imagine Dave wouldn't have brought up the Zevon connection if that's what they were there to sell.

SO...

I hope they play Dead, or maybe Winterlong.

Anything but Monkey and Debaser.

A little burned out on the debaser. I loved it when Dave promoed the band and Paul Shaffer yelled, "They're back! They're great!" offscreen.

floop, I feel like I'm chasing you from thread to thread. It's on right now on the east coast (11:30) but I've heard that some people on CST get it at 10:30.

East coast prime time starts at 7pm rather than 8pm, so Letterman comes on at 10:30.

CBS in Sacramento starts prime time at 7pm, but then they do an hour news. So Letterman comes on at 11pm. It's a crazy world.

I'm guessing Monkey.

*debating whether i should check this thread to see what they played, or be surprised, or go to sleep, or have another beer*

[edit] i'm deciding to be surprised. not going to check this thread again.

i am, however, going to have another beer
