whilst I generaly disapprove of chat in this the beautiful men thread I am about to make a massive exception to this rule to cover an issue that has great importance.
Old vs New, The Intrinsic Aesthetic Values of the Sutherlands
It was Cat Stevens who first highlighted the differences between the Sutherlands in his song "Father and Son" He described the headstrong young Kiefer Sutherland who felt he knew it all and didn't need his fathers guidance, and he painted a picture of Donald, the elder and wiser and quite frankly hotter father figure. Looking back on this it is plain as day that Cat Stevens also thought that Donald was the hotter of the Sutherlands because everyone knows that the older authoratitive types are pretty sexy and these misguided rebel types get boring after a while, especially when kicking out against the wrong thing.
Donald Sutherland, oozing charisma and sex appeal when he was a young man, a trend setter with character who even "made neonazism almost hot" (KVS et al, 2005) which is no mean feat I think we could all agree. Star of classics such as 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'(see figure two) and 'MASH' he made a name for himself with his smooth acting style, the naughty glint in his eye, devestatingly good looks and that way that he kisses the girls on screen which quite frankly is a little bit prrrowr.

As Sutherland senior aged people may have questioned whether or not he had lost his mind a bit when he appeared in films such as 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' I say NAY to these disbelievers. He was hot in that too, and the film is frickin' hilarious and it's got Rutger Hauer in it who is another one of those cool and sexy older men actor types.
But what makes him hot? Is it that mouth thing he's got going on, you know the half pouting half naughty grinning thing? Is the aesthetic phenomenon reliant mainly on character? Is it a case of when he was young he was cute?

Based soley on the pictoral evidence we can see that Sutherland Senior does have the hottest mouth ever, that he has dancing sparkly eyes that we imagine contain naughty naughty thoughts behind them. Is this an age aquired feature though? It is universally accepted that the older man is a devestatingly sexy phenomenon but in the case of Sutherland Sr. as a younger man he still had it, see figure four. The only logical conclusion to draw from the Donald Sutherland evidence is that he is a total fitty.

His son, Kiefer, also physically striking, share many of the same attractive features, yet not as hot? why is this. My theory on it is as follows, First off as a young man Kiefer made bad career choices and looked a bit twonky, see figure five for reference.

also as a young man he lacked a lot of his fathers natural charms, whilst everyone fancied him in the lost boys people were almost desperate enough to fancy Kevin Bacon in Flatliners, EUK! I mean really, euk. Also whilst the striking physical features of the Sutherlands are the same, Kiefer has something of the metrosexual about him, almost too polished, baby arse skin and perfect nails as opposed to the sort of craggy rawness of Donald. Rough is sexy, facials are not.

so is all hope lost for Kiefer? I don't think so, he gets better as he gets older and wiser and a bit rougher round the edges, see figure eight.

He is never going to be able to live up to Donalds intrinsic prrrr factor, the genes in this case filtered out to make a paler comparison, but he has a sort of thing about him in hiw own right. In a few years time he may have developed enough about him to come a good close second. I shall conclude where I began, with the truth of Cat Stevens, to kiefer, "You’re still young, that’s your fault,
There’s so much you have to go through." you'll get there lad.

This was the most brilliant post ever. He's old but
hot! The visuals alone were, to quote that girl who used to post here, I think her name was Tre, "I have just come."
Until I got to the photos of the offspring, the non-
photogenic, non-handsome, unfortunately named
Kiefer.
I'm gonna go cleanse the palate, so to speak, by
watching Eye of the Needle.

wonderful hot men*, some a tad on the older side, yes,
