I think they DID eat her in the original version, didn't they? Just like how Red Riding Hood wasn't rescued, Cinderella's stepsisters cut up their feet, Sleeping Beauty was raped by the Prince, and the Three Little Pigs were sent to the sausage factory.
Okay, I made that last one up, but I'm pretty sure the others are all true.

And yeah, I spelled harlot wrong, sorry. Also, looking it up I see that it IS prostitute specifically, I always thought it a more general term for sleazy women.
