I saw it when it was here in SF a year or two ago. It is fucking GREAT! If you live in LA (first of all, my condolences) and second, you should try to see it. It's worth it.
Sorry Floop, as a lifetime Northern Californian I just can't pass up the chance to diss LA. No offense to you personally intended. : )

it's ok Brackish.. i make fun of LA all the time.
i do always find it amusing how Northern Californians hate LA (even from ones who have never been here before), yet people from LA don't hate anyone. we're too busy driving around in convertibles and barbecuing by the pool to hate anybody

Actually there's a similar thing within the bay area between Oakland and SF. Oakland doesn't like SF, but SF seems fairly indifferent to Oakland. I think it all boils down to a feeling of inferiority in some ways. LA is bigger, richer, and has the glamour of Hollywood and so us Nor Cal folks tends to make fun of it's other more superficial qualities. Same thing with Oakland, it's a really blue collar town and the comparative wealth of SF is plenty reason for dislike. I go to just about all Oakland Raiders home games, and when they announce over the PA anything about the 49ers, everyone boos like crazy. Or if they announcement is that the 49ers have lost, everyone cheers.
Yes, I have just admitted publicly to being a Raiders fan. Have mercy on me.

And has better burritos (but San Diego is better than LA in my humble opinion). |

No way, Jose. SF's Mission District is Burrito Heaven. By which I mean that if you want a burrito, the Mission is heaven. Didn't mean to imply that good burritos acquire wings and harps and go to the Mission when they die. : )

don't get me wrong brackish, i love Northern California. lived up there for a while (Berkeley and SF).. if i had the opportunity i would probably move up there again. i just think LA gets an unfairly bad rap though. it's kind of en vogue to diss on LA. but this city has a lot going for it. i honestly believe that if we had viable public transportation this would be the best city in the world. as it stands, i think Barcelona maybe has that title...
and darwin, i'm not going to argue with you about San Diego burritos. they are good. but you guys are up against some tough competition

Sorry. You are incorrect. God did not intend for rice and beans to be in a burrito (or maybe he did, but they shouldn't be in there). |

Thanks dudes. Brackish's comments sold me and I'm takin' the wife to it. We'll take the Red Line down there from NoHo and pretend we're in a city with real mass transit.
Does anyone remember laughter? |

I've been up and down the Mission District. To La Cumbre and beyond. Still I've found that the best Mexican food is down south. If your talking Chinese food then yes, SF is the place to go. But sorry, the whole myth about the best burrito's being in the Bay Area is horse shit.
Back on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing the BR production. I keep hearing rumors of Tom doing a NA tour soon, hopefully they're true.
