Thought they were a once off sporadic type thing (I think I'll be proved wrong), don't suppose their coming to Europe or even Ireland?

I thought so too, but they're at it again. They have a new album. I saw them on Letterman and they played an X song, but I can't remember which one.

I had no idea there was a full-blown X reunion either. I'm generally ambivalent about reunions :) To this one's credit, it might explain the appearance of a couple X reissues in my local store lately...

yesterday i was in the mall killing time, and i went into the absurdly overpriced FYE, but they were having a 'blowout' sale, so for $3.99 apiece i got...

Rejected Unknown - Daniel Johnston (who i've wanted to check out for ages)
Plastic Fang (Australian Tour Edition w/ Bous CD) - Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Baylead - Stone Gossard (i didn't even know he had a solo album...)

and i paid full price for In The Reigns - Calexico/Iron and Wine

All for under $25...

Yay! No idea who Stone Gossard is, but the other 2 are gold. Plastic Fang got some pretty bad reviews when it came out but I think it's great. Is Ghetto Mom on the bonus CD?
Rejected Unknown is very good, it's some of DJ's most produced work (ie quite different from what I put on the mix).

Ghetto Mom is NOT on the bonus disc, unfortunately.

Stone Gossard is a guitarist in Pearl Jam.

OK. It's on the Japanese bonus CD and on the She Said 7" ep.

Lately I got Honeycomb, Mirror Conspiracy by Thievery Corporation, David Byrne eponymous for 3 euro, The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads and Funeral by Arcade Fire which I like immensely. i haven't heard Stone Gossard's album but all Pearl Jam sideprojects are much better than Pearl Jam, like Three Fish, Mad Season and especially Brad, Interiors is a wonder.

just bought the editors, its a good album, i think its flaw is that bullets is such a good song, and the rest of the album cant really live up to it, there just arent any other songs that stand out for me.

It is their best song but Munich and All Sparks are not far behind in my opinion. Lights, Open Your Arms and Blood also stood out for me.

I bought Willie Nelson's "Yesterday's Wine" at bargain price. It's not as great as Red headed Stranger but it still is very good. I'm just starting to discover Willie Nelson but I'm loving what I've heard yet.

My mostest recentest purchasesest include:

Dufus - Neuborns
Björk - Family Tree boxset
Spoon - Love Ways
Amps - Pacer
The Fall - Live at the Witch Trials
They Might Be Giants - Mink Car

Dufus is a band I've been spending the last 19 months or so becoming more and more hooked on. This particular album has a few extra tracks at the end which are just the singer with acoustic guitar. One of them, Hapi Bdae Seth, is just about the angriest song I've ever heard in my life. The Amps album is really good too, much better than I was expecting. The Fall one is a double disc reissue with a whole bunch of bonus tracks, very good value for the price. I've got a bunch more on order that will hopefully be in when I go home next week.

Nothing is ever something.

Oh how I love buying CDs at bargain price... Bought yesterday:

* 50 Foot Wave - Golden Ocean: thanks to tobafett who put it on his mix, and to Cheeseman's intense lobbying.
* V/A - Sunday Nights, The Songs Of Junior Kimbrough: tribute to Jr Kimbrough featuring the Blues Explosion, Iggy & the Stooges, Mark Lanegan, Black Keys, Cat Power... Sounds OK at a first listen
* Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express

killers - hot fuss special edition (hard not to like)
interpol - the first one, only $13, very good.
stellastarr* - the new one "harmonies for the haunted" (what a grower)

Yep, definitely with the Lanegan. Denis, are you liking FFW?

I got the new Sigur Ros album, though I haven't had much chance to give it the proper listen it deserves yet. I also got The Ordinary Boys 'Brassbound'. Completely the opposite end of the spectrum, but extremely likable and fun. 'Boys Will Be Boys' is ace, and I love the cover of 'Rudi's In Love'.

Ooh, he's got an arm off!

I put it this morning while having breakfast and it was great. Not sure my neighbours liked it though.
Over the last month I bought DFA1979 and 50 Ft Wave thanks to you guys here, and I'm glad I'm coming back to the heavier stuff. Lately I've bought some very smooth records, things you listen to while doing something else. I'm into Willie Nelson and all. But I've been missing the rockier/weirder stuff, things that drive my wife mad. Guess I have to thank fb.net for showing me again the way of the unlistenable.
