I bought Mogwai's 'Come On Die Young' (safe bet) and the Fiery Furnaces' 'Blueberry Boat' (not sure yet - needs a few more listens)

Funny I'm also listening to those two new acquistions, plus Jonathan Richman's "I'm Jonathan Richman" (or some title like that). I'm loving all three of them with maybe Richman leading the pack. I'll probably next buy the newer Shins disc.

(All of those purchases are based on what I've learned here, thank you fb.net).

On Friday I bought:
* Blues Explosion - Crunchy ep: I'm not a big fan of Blues Explosion remixes generally (although the !!! remix of Crunchy is pretty good), but this EP also includes a killer acoustic live version of Blues Explosion Man that is worth the purchase.
* Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food: on a first listen it sounds a bit weaker than '77 and Fear of Music, but I know TH albums are growers.
* Robert Hood - Point Blank: quality techno released on the excellent UK label Peacefrog.
* Sludgefeast - Noise Action Noise: awesome punk music performed by a fellow AbstractPlainer and Frank fan. This album is the best I've heard by them, and it comes with a bonus 15-tracks album and the FEAST INVADERS videogame that I'm looking forward to play.

recently bought those ones:

With Teeth - NIN: not the best one like I already said, but there's some good tunes
Seventeen Seconds & Faith - The Cure (deluxe edition): no need to comment the perfection...
Emoh - Lou Barlow: my girlfriend bought it to Lou himself after a fantastic show, and I must say that it's a good album, with great lyrics - THAT's a real songwriter

A friend of mine recently sent me Lou Barlow. I love it! Your girlfriend is very lucky to have been able to buy her CD from Lou. That must of been an amazing concert.

that was crazy: he played two hours alone with his guitar, songs of the last album, songs from Sebadoh, songs from The Folk Implosion
that also was the funniest concert I've ever seen, he's got a great sense of humour and self-irony, and he was very humble and very simple, he had a bottle of whisky that he shared with all the audience between the songs

that man is definitely not a pretentious jerk like Anton Newcombe (and he wrote better songs)

Hey, I'm glad you also liked him. I mentionned Lou Barlow last week in the "weirdest concert ever"-thread.

To stay on topic:
- I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight - Richard and Linda Thompson: terrific!
- first Elbow-album, can't remember the title: some great tracks, bought it very cheap.

Yeah, I bought it finally about six months ago, and it still amazes me every time I put it on. At last, an album that lives up to its expectation of a true classic.

I bought Daniel Johnston - Artistic Vice. It's just halfway between his super-lo-fi early recordings and his more produced records from the 90's. I think it's his first album with a band. Great songs on it, It's Got To Be Good is excellent.

Common - Be
Think it's a great album, some tracks more than others really blew me away, but as a whole just amazing.
Paul Westerberg - Besterberg
Good stuff on a whole and really works more as a rarities and b-sides album than a best of, which is important when the artist in question really doesn't have any big hits.
Earlimart - Treble and Tremble
Underwhelmed so far but I sense there's something there if I give it a few serious listens.
Other than that I've tried to get the new Malkmus but haven't found it yet. Also I'm glad to see that homers pet monkey picked up My Pain and Sadness... Personally I think it's my favorite mclusky album and that's saying a lot, it's a real shame that they're gone already.

quite like the album, they are from sweden. check out the songs, 'comeback', '100 degrees', and 'very loud'. here is what allmusic says about them:

Swedish indie pop hopefuls Shout Out Louds were formed in Stockholm by childhood friends Adam (vocals), Ted (bass), and Carl (guitars) in 2001. Soon after they were joined by Eric (drums) and Bebban (vocals, keys) and began writing songs. The first three they wrote formed the basis of their first demo tape. The songs caught the ear of Filip Wilén, the owner of Sweden's Bud Fox Recordings, and he quickly signed them. The group spent 2002 writing more songs and in December recorded four of them for a debut EP, 2003's 100°. The group's high-energy, ultra-melodic sound was in place from the very beginning. The band toured around Sweden and Scandinavia following its release and followed up the EP with two singles, "Hurry Up Let's Go" and "Shut Your Eyes." In October of 2003 the group released its first album, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, to great acclaim in Sweden. They band spent 2004 touring, releasing singles ("Please Please Please," "Very Loud/Wish I Was Dead," and the Oh, Sweetheart EP) and getting signed to Capitol in the U.S. The American version of Howl Howl Gaff Gaff was released in May of 2005. The album is made up of songs from the Swedish release plus some of the early singles and EP tracks. A tour of the U.S. with indie darlings the Dears and airplay on The OC helped boost the band's profile.

also got the kaiser chiefs super cheap the other day.
